Cork ladies played Donegal. The match was over in a minute. Cork got a goal. Donegal couldn't match that tally for the rest of the game as the Rebelles went on to hit the severely depleted Donegal team for 50+. Clare u-21 Hurlers took on Antrim and ate them alive. Now Kilkenny u-21's are looking to meet them in the final and were giving Galway a bit of a hosing. I don't know how as there is little in it from play. Galway then came back like a train and grabbed a couple of goals (one with a boot and the other where the umpire fell over and I laughed. It looks like they'll hold on but who knows.....well. you will if you read on. And they did hold on, even tacking on a nice score at the end. The final should be a great affair. 4-16 to 2-15
I have calmed down now. Donegal were excellent. Cork were lacking in ideas and imagination. They got out thought. Jim McGuinness has a plan and they executed it. We had no plan.........and we came up short.
Both teams thoroughly deserve it. Mayo were fantastic today. It will be a magnificent occasion. I have to say that I hope Mayo can do it. It would be great for them.
Aye, I just hate Donegal but it would love to see Mayo bury the ghost of the countless lost finals at last.
Mayo have suffered more than enough heartbreak down through the years. I suspect they might be in for a bit more. I hated Donegal last year. I am still not so keen on them but at least it wasn't the team from last year that did it.
I can't believe how bad Dublin were against Mayo, it was bordering on embarrassing at some stages, Mayo were clearly the better the team but I can't see them beating Donegal.
I think you are right. I do hope you are wrong though. Dublin played like Champions for 18 minutes but mugs for the rest. Mayo did the same to us last year. They harried and harrassed and put the pressure on forcing mistakes. Plus Dublin played badly. Mayo really struggled to close it out and I don't know if they are brave enough to do it. Playing a team that hasn't won before might be their saving grace. A point of note is that both teams are in year 2 with their managers. Both teams played a ****e style football in year one. Both developed the style in year two. Last year the Dubs won in year two. the year before that they played a ****e style. Maybe there is a pattern there. Maybe not.
Mayo always struggle to close out big games even when they are the better team by a distance. They should have beaten Dublin by a lot more then they did but Dublin could have won the game if it was'nt for a couple of bad misses in front of goal, thats a bad sign for Mayo I think, I just can't see Donegal losing the final and it might even be a pasting for Mayo.
