With the recent activity, just wondering how the 25 man rule will be met. Please update any errors. British 1 Cudicini (I think he counts as over here for so long now) 2 Caulker 3 Dawson (so far) 4 Smith (over 21 now?) 5 Naughton 6 Walker 7 Jenas (so far) 8 Livermore 9 Bale 10 Parker 11 Defoe 12 Bentley 13 Lennon 14 Kane (under age) 15 Huddlestone (so far, sadly) 16 Rose Overseas 17 Gomes 18 Friedal 19 Vertonghen 20 Gallas 21 Gylfi 22 Dembele 23 VDV 24 Adebayor 25 Benny 26 Kaboul 27 Sandro 28 Dos Santos 29 Falque Rumoured Willian Lloris (will be instead of CC or HG so doesn't really add to the total) A N Other striker (surely) So our 25 would not include one of the keepers (Gomes or Carlo I assume), Harry Kane as he is 19, so that brings a possible 32 down to 30 and 5 more to sell. I assume Adam Smith would be part of the 25 now. Therefore Jenas, Huddlestone, Dos Santos, Dawson, Bentley look like they are going. If we get M'Villa then either Livermore or Parker would be superfluous surely. Falque on a loan again? My 25 would be (accepting Dawson and Huddlestone are going) British 1 Caulker 2 Smith (over 21 now?) 3 Naughton 4 Walker 5 Livermore 6 Bale 7 Parker 8 Defoe 9 Lennon 10 Rose Overseas 11 Gomes/Cuddicini/Butland 12 Friedal 13 Vertonghen 14 Gallas 15 Gylfi 16 Dembele 17 VDV 18 Adebayor 19 Benny 20 Kaboul 21 Sandro 22 Falque Rumoured 23 Willian 24 Lloris (will be instead of CC or HG so doesn't really add to the total) 25 A N Other striker (surely) Plus Kane.
Sigurdsson's homegrown, I believe. You have to have trained for three years with an English or Welsh side whilst under the age of 21 and he was at Reading from 2005-10.
Caulker, Smith and Kane are all U-21 for the purposes of the 25-man squad, as is Andros Townsend. And I doubt Falque will make it. So no particular pressure on numbers - more a case of one in, one out
OP,why are you referencing "British" Players? It's very simple. You have to have 8 home association trained players in your 25. That means they have to have been trained at an ENGLISH or Welsh team for 3 years or more before they are 21. As long as they meet that it doesn't matter what nationality they actually are. Carlo does not count, not that it matters,as nationality, length of time in a country means zero if they weren't trained here for 3 years before reaching 21. Hope that helps.
Yes, I assumed so. Our 3 will, hopefully, be Lloris, Friedal and one of Gomes, Cudicini or (unlikely) Butland if rumours are to be believed.
