So who do you think will be in our 25 man squad at the end of January?

Remember only 17 of them can be non "Home Grown" players and U21s don't count. I know our transfer business might not be over yet and there are still questions over Colo but I thought it would be nice get people's early opinions.

Gk's. Krul (HG), Harper (HG), Elliott(HG)

Def. Raylor(HG), Saylor (HG), Simpson (HG), Santon, Debuchy, Colo, Mbiwa, Willo (HG)

    Str. Ameobi (HG), Cisse, Gouffran

Total: 23 players, 9 Home Grown, over 21 years old (Santon may not need to be included but should be anyway). If Sissoko comes in thats 24 players.

EDIT. Haven't included Gosling so that is 25 unless Simmo does leave this window.

    New striker?

    Surely Gouffran is that striker?

What do you think he was signed for?

To replace Best.... we still need to replace Ba.
It will also allow that scumbag ranger to be kicked out hopefully.

This looks about right. Where this leaves the likes of Ranger and Amalfitano I don't know.

Also Simpson isn't in your list. I agree with you though I don't think he has a future at the club now. If he's not going to make the 25 then we may as well sell him in January and get some money for him. No point in keeping him if he can't play in the Premier League and will go for free in the summer.

I debated the idea of putting him in, but ultimately decided against it as I feel he'll be gone in a week.

Mbiwa is better than any CB we have right now, in terms of all round ability.

That new LB we're signing is due to our need for a natural LB that we don't have. These signings are needs, not just for "Supplementing the squad". These players are definitely not just for depth.

We needed a new striker who could also play as a winger, that's why we went after Remy, but he didn't come. Gouffran scored 8 goals in his last 20 games.

I would love for us to sign another striker, but I don't expect one to come now. Gouffran is great player, and I wouldn't be surprised if the only signings to come in are Sissokho and that LB.

Supplement (noun): Something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole.

To big an ask for Gouffran to replace Ba, however we may well wait until the summer to sign that calibre of striker. I am sure that Gouffran is a good acquisition, but seriously hope he is not considered the replacement for Ba.

You're going down that road are you? Trying to insult other peoples intelligence?

I know what supplement means, it's just the way you were talking about the players we've signed made it sound like they'd be nothing but squad depth, something to just fill the gap.

They are more than that, and if everyone thinks Gouffran is just a depth signing and not our replacement for Ba, then I hope you're right. He's probably isn't, but don't be surprised if we don't sign another striker until the summer.

And if you're looking to try and have a cheeky dig, don't bother. Other's know that I can commit to an argument on this forum, and I promise you a battle you will not win.

Gouffran isn't a Ba substitute, but I think hte goal is to have as good an attack at the end of ths window as we had in the beginning:

If Gouffran is a better attacking winger than Cisse was (which seems likely) and Cisse is almost as good down the middle as Ba (shich may or may not be true), we will have coped with Ba's departure. Another striker needed, but we should be able to stay up till June to get him

    Agree with this entirely.

I think we have got to the stage of the season where we are looking to consolidate. Even if we go on a massive run (delusion warning) we are going to be outside Europe so get the core in now so that come August we have a settled group of players ready to push back into Europe especially if we get RvW / Sien De Jong or similar in the summer window.
