Gordon Armstrong's header beat Chelsea in the FA Cup replay at Roker Park. Bit of a different feeling to the Bradford game...
I fckn hate these threads I was working and tried everything to get away ........ sick I missed that.
I was in a pool match. Can't remember if the game was live on TV. If it was I can guarantee I'd have lost my games!
I was there Sid.... Great night, Evening games under the floodlights at Roker always seemed a little more special to me. This one certainly was,
Oh what a day/night.... I travelled up from Pompey and took my regular place in the Fulwell. The rest is history...... Gerrrrrrin !!!! It's still one of my greatest moments ever!!
After the game I was having a quite drink with a few other jubilant supporters in the Blue Bell, about 10 minutes after the police had escorted their "fans" round the corner to Seaburn Station, a riot broke out as about 50 of them stormed the place, glasses and bottles full and empty were flying everywhere for about five minutes, once there was nothing left to throw and they vanished as quick as they had appeared, the strangest thing about this incident was that no one seemed to have been hurt and most of the raiders were black and female, after a few minutes everything was back to normal except for the state of the place and a great night was had by all.
I was young, and like a tightly coiled spring that night. My exuberence got me through any potential bother!
Main stand seats family enclosure, great night. The night I realised I had to ditch the seats with my Dad and get into the Fulwell end. What an atmosphere!
In the clockstand as usual and level with the penalty area when it went. Tony Norman kept us in the game for long periods pulling of some canny saves.
The one and only time I ever ran onto the pitch at the end of a game. Fantastic night and an incredible atmosphere.
