Mick McCarthy wonât disrupt the balance of his tight-knit squad with January additions.. âNo, Iâm not looking at using the transfer window,â he said. âIâve not got a huge squad, but the players Iâve got are all really good Championship players who will do everything they can to get in the play-offs. âWeâre in the top six and we can stay there with this squad.â
And I agree with him. We've got to where we are with what we've got so there's no reason, barring a tumult of injuries, that we can't continue in the same way for the rest of the season.
I do to SD............i get annoyed when teams rotate the starting line up just to try and keep players happy .......just play your strongest team every game...i think AVB lost the spurs job because he was trying to prove how good he was by chopping and changing all the time rather than just playing the strongest team week in week out and i think Mourinho is doing the same thing.....a consistant starting line-up for me is a positive thing.
Agreed. I'm the type that would rather see us start with the best eleven, get ourselves ahead in the game and then make subs later to rest players than have your best players resting on the bench and have to bring them on later to chase a match. In the past we've had much smaller squads than this and have competed on all fronts, including successfully in Europe.
There's no doubting we could quite easily improve our squad, it isn't a great one but they're doing very well so it's evolution not revolution. I wouldn't mind seeing us bring in a RW and perhaps a more creative playmaker in the middle. But for me know I think we should wait until the summer and access the squad then, use this season perhaps to blood a few of the youngsters in
Based on yesterday's performance the squad still needs thinning out ie Wordsworth -clearly not good enough,Edwards- past it ,and then recruiting better quality replacements.
In other words theres no money available to MM for strengthening the team, which is a shame because it wouldnt take many to make us a really decent Championship side. Thanks Keane, thanks Jewell, what a pair of tossers!
