Well both Kiwi & Didley will be likely be very happy that in June my partner, Wendy, and l are flying across country to Vancouver to watch their teams participate in the 2026 World Cup opening rounds played in Vancouver, BC. We are joining my friend, Mario, who lives there, for a couple of weeks. We will see Australia vs TBD, for just Mario and myself @ cheapest C$490/ticket (2 tickets) + New Zealand vs Egypt @ cheapest C$390/ticket (3 tickets, Wendy joining us). Also took advantage of an Air Canada seat sale (C$1200 return for 2). Could have got even cheaper air travel prices but milk runs travelling through the night (on way back) or arriving at silly hours (1:00am). Mario is accommodating us and has an extra vehicle available for our use. It marks the 50th anniversary of meeting Mario, after he sold me a red 1967 MGB Roadster in 1976 for $500 and we have been best friends ever since. I am wondering who the AUS TBD match will likely be against? Also noteworthy for those two habitual rivals to discuss is why the AUS tickets, in identical upper left rear bowl location, are C$100 more than NZ game per ticket? So hopefully we will get to see Mohamed Salah and Chris Wood in action. I bought these tickets at SeatGeek, a Canadian site, the cheapest I could find out there. Mario had considered the random FIFA WC ticket draw, but you had to indicate which matches you were interested in and provide a credit card #, but a friend of his for an earlier one of these draws suddenly discovered a C$9,500 charge on his card, nice surprise, you have to accept whatever ticket price FIFA deems fair.

Australia will play ‘UEFA Path C Winner’ (you’ll never sing thaaat) so the winner of Slovakia v Kosovo will play at home to the winner of Turkey v Romania. You’d assume the home teams will win those semis so my not very smart money would be on Slovakia to edge out Turkey at home.

They have a striker called Leo Sauer. He might make you feel like dancing. Or not.

Kilburn, Its standard procedure that anything Australia does is bigger, better & bewdy mate, than anything Kiwiland has to offer.
Of course, when we stuff up, its also bigger & better than our neighbours!

Footnote - I wouldn't pay jack to watch the Aussies pass the ball up from the back, all ther way to thier goal area, then pass it back, before giving it away back in our goal area & concede........... add, repeat.

However, if we play our friends from across the ditch, they'll make us look good and we might snag it!

But do the Aussies have an equivalent scorer to Chris Wood, who still consistently finds the net, even though he is getting up in years now? Should see a few goals in that NZ match with Mohamed Salah there too. Any idea who Oz might likely play against for my TBD match?
