Is anyone else starting to feel quite optimistic about the season ahead?

I'm trying to stop myself from getting too excited, but I think there is a lot going for us this year. We've made sensible signings, and made them early in the summer. We've retained the 3/4 (so far) of the loans that helped create our sensational form from January last year. The manager has made clear improvements year on year, to both the playing style and finishing positions. No big losses from the first team like Eze last year. I think the teams that came down (Fulham, WBA, and Sheffield Utd) are weaker than those that went up (Norwich, Brentford, Watford). And various other clubs have financial issues that seem to finally be catching up with them just when we've got our house in order (Derby, Reading, Hull).

When I say optimistic, a tilt at the top two seems far fetched still, but I can't see why we shouldn't be pushing for the playoffs this year. How are you all feeling about the season ahead? Where do you think we'll finish? I'm going to pin my colours to the mast and predict a 5th place finish.

We have made some what look like good signings. But with the summer transfer window open until 2 September a lot can happen yet. If then we are about where we are now, plus Johansen in and without losing key players, I will be as hopeful as you Raving.

    This is QPR.

Final position 7th, having been 6th going in to the final game against Swansea who need a win to take our place in the play offs.

Without wanting to get carried away, I'm trying to remember how I felt going into either of our last two promotion seasons. I'm not sure if I really expected us to be as good as we were in 2011, but then in 2014 I didn't think we were good enough, but we managed to sneak up. I'd not be too disappointed with a solid top 10, maybe even playoff place finish, but we've managed to sneak up before, and no reason we can't do it again. Just hope it isn't too soon, so we actually stay up this time!

I would like and hope for an improvement on last season.

If we finish 7th-9th it will be rather disappointing, as it would be just short of the finish line.

So I would be very pleased with 6th place and a bash at the play-off’s. There I have said it!

However, as we are QPR, we must control our expectations.

I hope it will be a fun and enjoyable season!

Once pay day comes I can see whether I’m having £50 or £100 on us winning the league.

For the first time in a long time, I will say bottom 3 and certs to go down. I am basing my predictions on the last Brixton predictions and the Euros, where I couldn't even bride a ref for more than one correct result. (I did get the Euro after 90 final 1 all). So taking into account how crap I am at predicting results, and how, more offen than not the opposite happens, I am sticking with relegation.

Predict a relegation scrap then if it comes out the opposite.

Top 3rd with a sniff at 6th, maybe even 5th. More likely 7th or 8th.
Complete guess but just nice to start feeling confident we won't be in a relegation scrap which is most welcome!

    Heart says playoffs,
    Commonsense and history says, 8th-10th.
We may even have a cup run and get knocked out in the third round by some 3rd division high flyer.

Summary - The dates may change but normal services to resume with a jump or two in our end of year placement,
......... and l'll be happy with that.

    Anything better is a bonus.

Come on - out with it. Top 2? Top 6? All dependent on signing Johansen?
