Wouldnt bother me. That competition needs to be greatly devalued as it is. Even if I supported a team who regularly competed in it I would see it as a little bonus if we'd won it. Winning the league would be important. I would put the satisfaction of winning it on par with winning the FA cup.
As long as it makes money, doesn't matter that it would cost the fans a fortune to attend. Give the USA this and what next ...... they'll be after the Eurovision Song Contest !

If the champions league was open only to the champions of their country I wouldn't argue with you. Even then I would sooner beat my fellow English teams, potentially local rivals, to the league over a season of 38 games, than beat a half dozen European teams who I have little interest in.
