One of my best mates is a Fener fan, text me this morning all serious saying how he's contemplating his life, so naturally I got a bit worried, ten seconds later he texts saying Soldado and Janssen up top is going to finish him
I wish him well in Turkey. There is a decent footballer in there somewhere and he's far from the only striker to fail with us. However, Mauricio Pochettino doesn't feel he puts in the required effort during training and that's the end of that. I don't think he'll be back with us. If he has a half way decent season in Turkey, we'll get our money back and both parties move on. It's a shame. Next!
Well it was a nice treat being able to support a team with 3 strikers for a week or so. Made a nice change.
Shades of Aaron Lennon's loan to Everton. Let's hope he's not spotted on the Istanbul ring road looking lost and confused a year from now.
I genuinely feel bad for the guy as he looks gutted, flat even but he needs to see this as a real opportunity to find his form and potentially return next season.
I feel sorry for Vince as he - like Soldado - wore his heart on his sleeve. But ultimately, moments of genuine quality were too few and far between. I have rarely seen a striker with such a poor first touch and such muddled positional play. This is the end of the road for him as even he does well out in Turkey it means and counts for even less than doing well in Holland. Hopefully we'll be able to recoup most of the money we paid for him. Best of luck Vince, and thanks for all the penalties
Do you work in a coal mine in your spare time,Brian?...or...what the hell have you been doing to yourself?
I've dug myself a few holes over the years but no mining. I've renovated a few old houses and a lot of furniture and bikes in recent years . I'm sure that hasn't helped but playing rugby from being a nipper did for my neck and shoulders. Training for it did for my knees. The elbows are just a bonus condition. The neurosurgeon says 'wear and tear '. I'm all worn out apart from my arse. That works pretty well.
I suppose Spurs will still pay his wages......will he earn bonus money from the Turkish club,I wonder?
Good luck to him. I hope that his pairing with Soldado will be a menace to the rest of the Turkish league. They already crashed out of the Europa League though, so we won't be able to see how they perform in that. They have a game at 6pm tomorrow. Probably not eligible for that one. Next week they face Alanyaspor away at 6pm, though. Could be his first game for them. The following Saturday they're up against Besiktas.
Remember Bassong's delight at joining Norwich? Or Lennon when joining Everton... Leaving Spurs hurts bad!
I've been trying to dig up that old squad photo of John Bostock where the longer you look at it, the angrier he seems to get.
