Do the vacant numbers give us a few clues ?

    No 3........obviously awaiting a chosen Left-back.

No 8........wishful thinking by me....Season loan of Banton......or is that vacant for a mid-fielder ?.....Hopefully not for Feeney.

    No 16.....?

    No 19.....?

    No 20.....?

    No 28.....?

    Any ideas folks ?

Ps.....Crystal Palace signed a forward yesterday.........will that help in releasing Banton ?

I don't think clubs have to go 1 to (whatever number) consecutively these days and I've seen players on the Tele with 77 on their shirt or 54. Don't think you can read anything into it except Chadwick 29. If ever you were trying to tell someone to bugger off then I think that's a subtle hint or maybe not so subtle.

They certainly don't have from 1 to 11 these days, unfortunately.

I do remember a game on the box a few years ago when a sub came on wearing some ridiculous squad number. It was probably the square root of his wife's birth date as a serial date value divided by pi, which happened to be his lucky number. The expert pundit (probably Mark Lawrenson) said "I've no idea who he is but I'm sure he's the best number 412 in the world".

Ah 1 to 11 in every match no matter who was playing.....those were the days. George Best stole my number. As I wore it before he did I like to think of it that way.
