20:05 k.o. Thursday September 19th White Hart Lane.

    ITV4/HD

Sandro the Cockerel welcomes you all to the 2013/14 Europa League. Having come through the two light training sessions against some Russians (Georgian for pedants, I'm old school USSR...they're Russians!) who were quite frankly a load of cossacks, we entertain Tromso, who qualify for the comp as Norways Fair Play entrant. They finished 4th in their league last year, this season after 22 games they lie 13th out of 16, and have not won away. Seeing as they're taking fair play very seriously and aren't going to tackle us, I'm not sure how this game will pan out!

    • Tromsø reached the group stage of the 2005/06 UEFA Cup, but finished bottom of their section with a win and three defeats.

    • Tromsø have reached this stage despite losing their last three European away games this season without scoring. They are the only side in the group stage, however, who have battled their way through from the first qualifying round.

    • A Norwegian club has yet to win a game on English soil in UEFA competition in 18 attempts; two draws and 16 defeats.

    • Former Tromsø goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld was on Tottenham's books from 2002-2004 but never made a competitive appearance for the club.

    ....could be Calum Best!

The winner who guesses how many team sheets in posts before kick off wins Sandro the Cockerels used athletic support.

I'm hoping for a convincing win by a side that's pretty unrecognisable from the one that won yesterday.
Debuts for Chiriches and Lamela would be a good idea and run outs for Friedel, Kaboul, Naughton, Holtby, Sandro and Defoe seem like a no-brainer.
Are Lennon and Chadli fit enough? No idea.

Tromso beat top of the table Rosenborg yesterday 1-0. Rosenborg fielded a team with 4/5 different players to their previous league game, for reasons I don't know, I thought perhaps to rotate for a Euro tie this week, but no, they got knocked out of the EL by St Johnstone already, the scottish premiership outfit who sit midtable.

No takers for a splendid jock strap is disappointing, I imagined a bucket load of entrants for that. :)

Rough guess about the line-up: Friedel; Naughton, Dawson, Chiriches*, Fryers; Sandro, Dembele; Lamela, Holtby, Chadli; Defoe
(* Depends if the work permit is sorted, which is bloody well should have been already if Willian can get one for 35 minutes of international football...)

    Brad
Naughton, Kaboul, Clichés(or whatever he's called), Fryers
    Sandro, Dembele
    Lamela, Holtby, Townsend
    Defoe

So pretty much all change. We've got Cardiff away and then Villa away within 2 days the following week so you can bet we'll be resting players for the Villa game, might as well give a few of the replacements a test run on Thursday. If these players aren't good enough to beat a side like Tromso then it's best we know now rather than when we get some injuries and start playing them in the league.

    Thats the clean pun! <whistle>

Its just my light hearted take on this comp at this stage of it, no intended meanings or offence to our opponents, I usually mess about with some wordplay if I can.

I got interviewed by two Norwegian fans outside WHL today. Lol They recalled Stefan Iverson and Erik Thorsvedt as our Norwegian legends.

    I predicted a 4 - 0 win to us.

Villas-Boas has claimed that we're still waiting for Chiriches work permit to arrive in the post. How ****ing ludicrous is that?

I know people still waiting for their copies of GTA V in the post. The mockery they're getting on Facebook is cruel, yet hilarious.
