http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/31032014-financial-results-201213-1455995.aspx Interesting, and posted on the official website too for the fans, rather than having to get the information from news outlets. Good to hear, from Rogers and Hofstetter, that the club still has the backing of the Ultimate Shareholder too. DTLW
Hans Hofstetter on Solent: "We are in a position where we do not have to sell any players Mauricio wants to keep."
@solentsport: #saintsfc director Hans Hofstetter says transfer debt is a burden but one that will be covered & won't affect board's long-term plans @solentsport: #saintsfc CEO Gareth Rogers says business is strong & has strong support from owner & adds "imperative club moves towards sustainability" Full interviews with Rogers and Hofstetter to be posted online later.
Hans Hofstetter, Director, added: “Whilst I perceive that we have inherited a difficult situation financially, there are now clear and structured plans in place to progress the Club and avoid a similar situation from occurring again" I assume he refers to 4 years ago Just goes to show how much we're indebted to Katharina as all this additional investment and Support to help us stay and progress in the premier league has come from her. I don't have time to work it out properly, but from a cash-flow point of view I don't know how much of a problem £21m of transfer fees to pay is and whether we may not be adding too much extra next season. It's clearly manageable based on income, but would be an acceptable figure to carry forward every season?
Good to see it published on the OS. There are positives there, but I'm sure the devil is in the detail. The main thing is that it is (hopefully) under control and we have the support of KL (i.e. she isn't about to sell and try and get some capital back). Interesting that there is still an ongoing transfer debt...but we have now found out what that loan was about (designed to reduce overall transfer cost of a player or players). Note the Krueger comment about inheriting a difficult financial situation which they hope won't happen again (perhaps Nicola without checks and balances had got carried away). Whatever NC did we have inherited a good team...though we did buy some duds as well. Good that MP can keep any player he wants, but doesn't sound like there will be too many big purchases in the near future...though remember the big purchases haven't always been the ones that work out. Overall, it sounds like we are in good hands, but work is needed.
Being too negative there...MP has worked under worse financial constraints. At least he can keep his players....that is a big deal when you consider how much KL could get for some of them. You have to be reasonably certain of your financial future to be able to ignore the realisable value of some of our players.
There are only three clubs who don't have to work under sensible financial constraints: Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City. As for debts don't worry about it. Every business has to use credit and the debt of many PL clubs is a great deal larger than ours which we are assured is manageable.
What a coincidence Luke's reported value is about £30M and the reported debt is about £30M. Am I just being over sensitive?
Yes. I have been saying that we might do one sale to finance purchases (i.e. Shaw not Lallana), but this is all in MP's lap. Not sure he would want to do that.
Referring to ManU situation...this is a lesson to those fans who want us sold to someone who will pile money in (and there are a few). United were bought by people who raised the money by mortgaging the club...this could happen to us if Katharina sold. We are in safe hands.
It's no big deal though. Saints get a minimum of £60m of TV money & £20m of gate income per season. So £7m of "commercial income" is less than 9% of that income and even less when transfer income is factored in. Yes, every penny helps, but commercial income grows with success on the pitch. However, I imagine any new shirt sponsorship deal will be included in that total going forward. Clearly the next shirt sponsor will pay way more than what aap3 were paying (which I understand was bugger all).
I'm not joking. There is talk of a big money rebuild of their squad this summer and that will be against the background of no Champions' League football next season. If the rumours we read are anywhere near true it would seem that they are prepared to spend silly money to buy Shaw and Lovren and to pay them ridiculous wages. there is talk of several other very expensive signings as well. I would be surprised if we buy more than two players at most this summer and they will be young and cheap.
It's up to the 30th of June, that means it doesn't include Wanyama and Osvaldo, right? So the transfer debt will be significantly higher.
