Lions did this in 2004 under Wisey. They'd had a good season and were riding high in this Division and looking good for a play off place. As the Cup got more serious Lions league form faded. Ended mid table and we know the rest. Whatever KJ says or does, team and players all know they are 1 game away from Wembley and that affects how they play. Who wants a James Henry injury or get sent off before the big one? This is only going to increase if Lions win on Sunday. Every schoolboy footballer wants to play at Wembley. But Lions are drifting down the League and need more points. More sleepless nights for KJ - who'd be a football manager?
So their plan is to play ****e in the hope that KJ thinks they deserve to play in the cup?! There are about 5 players worth a place in the team for Sunday and one of them is out for the season!
MFC - and there's the worry. Agree - Lions have lost their best player in Henry. Where will the goals come from? Does not matter to Afobe or Hulse - they're cup tied but we know what's happened to them. Is Tyson cup tied? Might be better if he was. Remember Danny Dichio or Daniele Salvatore Ernest "Danny" Dichio to give him his full name? He was suspended - ponced around in a suit at Cardiff (mind you he didn't do much, once he was perm). The whole team need a reality check. Last year the team only started to perform in March immediately after Kitch died. So I'm looking for a candidate from 'Millwall legends'. Choose anyone you like - but they can't be dead already!
Our form dipped way before the cup got 'serious' but it is 2004 all over again. I think we will stay up and did say to Steve on here some time back that I'd rather we get fired out the cup in the 3rd round, our squad just isn't big enough for the amount of games, nor as it is proving is it strong enough. let's see what KJ has up his sleeve for Sunday and stay behind the team through thick and thin - although a lack of experienced strikers might be our current undoing - can't knock the 2 young lads for effort but can't praise them as a threat either. Does Chris Wood count as a Millwall legend - I'll nominate him
So we have no strikers and the most creative player is injured. 0-3 Blackburn and then off to the pub to watch United v Chelsea
I'm going for Darius Henderson - he's finally got to court. I'm hoping for a very severe punishment for the punch that did connect ... maybe he'll get the ref we had at Leeds as judge and jury made up of linesmem and the judge will go for treason ... and we know what the punishment is for that....
