    29th June 1995 and Gillingham FC were bought by Paul Scally. 20 years later and he is still going. Congratulations Mr Scally. There's been good times, 3 Wembley visits, cup runs, a league title, promotion to and a few years in the 2nd tier of the football pyramid etc, there's been bad times, relegations, the McCammon saga, Stuart Thurgood getting man of the match for what felt like nearly every week, cup defeats to non league teams. He's made friends (must have) and enemies (many like Ken Bates). One thing that is certain is that is has rarely been dull.

    He may not be perfect and he certainly has his bad points but he could be far worse. 20 years is no mean feat.

    Here's to the future adventures!

    On the whole love him or loave him he DID save the club when he came in. I do not agree with a lot of things he has and will do in the future but these 20 years have been the best the club has ever had with quality players signed and sold.2nd tier football for the first time ever. We have a nice stadium now and ambitions to move to a bigger stadium in the future if we can get the funding and council support to build it.
    Thanks Mr Scally for 20 years of memories of ups and downs

    Yes well done Chairman Scally, whatever his faults and like most of us, he has plenty but the thoughts 20 years ago that we were going to lose the club that i supported as a young lad, were beyond comprehension. Yeah he could have done with better HR guidance along the way, could also do with keeping his mouth shut at times and certainly knows how to play the politician badly and be economical with words, but then what is football without opinions and some of what i have said might be pot, kettle, black.

    But overall from the guy i looked up to in football, i give you this quote;

    “I want no epitaphs of profound history and all that type of thing. I contributed – I would hope they would say that, and I would hope somebody liked me.”

    We are better off now under 20 years of Scally than we were before, so the simple fact is he deserves praise for taking the club forward

    A great deal has been achieved since Mr Scally saved our club and he should be congratulated I have been disappointed at some of the negativity over the years from small parts of the Gills fans but the club has improved under his leadership and he has not risked the clubs solvency to splash out on players we cant afford to buy or pay wages too and that is sensible business here,s to even more great times.
