And still no appreciation for Rebrov's sublime volley against West Ham.

Bit of a bitch to narrow down the shortlist supplied, especially the forwards.

    I ended up with....

    Schmeichel

    Dixon, McGrath, Adams, Irwin

    Ronaldo, Keane, Lampard, Giggs

    Bergkamp, Cantona

Irwin is one of those players everyone forgets, but he was always a solid, reliable player that did his job with no fuss and, crucially, no errors. Naturally, the likes of Beckham and the Nevilles didn't like him much and kept making slurs about his Irish heritage in the dressing room...

Dazza, Anderton, what a player, would have loved to have seen Bale on the left, Anderton on the right, with sheringham just behind jurgen.....parker in the centre, with modric.

Irwin was immense for Man Utd, not many goals against came down his flank.

Paul McGrath was one of the best defenders of the game, bad knees a la Ledders but you got the impression he could read forwards minds. The game against Italy in USA94 was for me, still to this day the finest performance from a defender I've ever seen. Even Baggio went on record to say he was the toughest defender he ever came up against. Pity he was such a booze hound.

Lampard? Was/is a good player but many players better. Scholes, Zola, Viera, Petit, Makelele, Essien, Fabregas, Gerrard. I also wouldn't put Giggs in. Was exceptional when young, but for most of the time the remarkable thing is that he still reaches a decent standard. Bale, Overmars, Ginola, Silva have all reached greater heights imo.

You would have modders over Hoddle or Gazza? Not a chance. He doesn't score enough to warrent a DM nxt to him. Modders needs someone like thud.

    My Team was:

    Schmeichel

G Nev Rio F (would have been ledders if I could have him) N Vidic A (rsehole) cole

Ronaldo (RW??) Stevie G Scholsey Ginola (something for the ladies to look at)

    Henry Shearer

This is not necasarily the team I would pick if asked to make the best team possible, but generally the best players from the Prem era.

    Special mention goes to:

    Berbs
    Ledders
    Rooney
    Van nistelrooy
    Bergkkamp
    Zola
    Hasselbaink - Gudgeonson combo
    Roy Keane
    Sheringham
    Giggs
    Seamo
    Adams
    Viera
    Gary Doherty

Aaah, I thought your comment was in isolation, not inkeeping with the 20years of prem thread.

Gazza did play in the Premier League, for Middlesbrough and Everton, whilst Hoddle was player coach for Swindon and the Chavlings.

But neither played their best football. Hoddle was a sweeper by this stage! Gazza was shot, by the time he played for Everton.
