Two games games ahead of schedule. Seven points clear of the relegation spots. All this and 'Tigers' Pride' beer on sale in club shop ffs!
4 bloody minutes. Hope it doesn't come back to bite us on the arse. But with Palace's balloon burst, Fulham losing again and Sunderland still not winning the gap between us and them looks wide. Just need to turn over Fulham next week then starting converting the 1-0s to wins and we should be okay.. . 3 points up on where I thought we would be at the start of the season.... COME ON CITY...
Need to start seeing games like todays out till the end. Still, feeling quietly confident we'll be ok this season.
a recent poster on Sunderland board thinks 35 points should be enough.I hope this is the case.I think there will be plenty of 1-1 and 0-0 draws between bottom half teams and the top 6 will start steam rolling teams that dare not invest in January. If the bottom 3 do not get 3 points before year end I cannot see them sanctioning big wage deals.
Today was the first away game against a team in the bottom half, so we'll start picking up a few points away now. At home it will start getting much tougher as most of the top half have still to visit the Home of Football. FACT.
Bottom place is irrelevant. We need to stay above 18th. Today we opened that gap by a further 1 point. 3 would have been better, but 1 is better than a kick in the knackers. The chasing pack need to win three games that we lose. Statistically, at the moment, the gap is more likely to open than close. And for every difficult game we face, so do they.
No one can know what the required points total will be. I think with their being a genuine top 6-7 it might lower the points total of the others. As with before we need to pick up our points from our rivals. No point beating Liverpool and losing to Palace
Comfortable point but could easily have been three. We became far too defensive in the second half and let the opposition back into the game for the third week in a row, after dominating Swansea and Stoke in the first half. If we'd been more aggressive, as we were in the last 10 minutes when Figueroa missed a golden opportunity with three men wide open on his left and one half open on the right. He chose the right and gave it back to them. Bruce was tearing his hair out!! I'd like to see Boyd start instead of Figgy at LW against Fulham. Otherwise no change.
Aside from Palace, we've taken points from the games we have had a realistic chance of getting something from. I feel with our steady start we aren't going to run out of steam like the first season and we are nowhere near as poor as 2009/10.
You guys are pretty much safe. 42 points should be enough at that's only 4 wins for the rest of the season. For the drop I reckon: Mackems Palace Cardiff
Leaving aside the worrying maths... There's no chance of anyone around here thinking we're safe at this stage of the season. In 2008-09 we reached 20 points before the end of October , after 9 games, and we STILL needed help on the last day to stay up with a mere 35 points. Granted, this team is more disciplined and organised, but you never know what's round the corner.
Sunderland and Palace are dead certs. Mackay not being allowed to spend in Jan will have a massive effect. Can still see Wet Spam going down though.
Why are you having a go at Albert? Newcastle have 30 points, that is who he is on about when talking about the 4 wins.
