And there's massive queues in North stand, west upper and lower. It's really isn't just late walkup is it?
Arrived at 3.50. 200 yard long queue, 5 deep, to get into the East Stand. Joined the end of it and I was in my seat as the teams kicked off. What's the problem?
No queue at the South but a massive queue at he East. That said, joined the queue at 3:40 and was in my seat ten minutes later. One or two still can't use the system - saw somebody had printed their own tickets and tried to scan it several times to let two people in only to hold the queue up and get locked out.
Still don't get how people struggle. Scan the barcode, walk through the turnstile. Seriously how ****ing difficult?
The guy next to me was taking great pleasure telling everyone his wife had held the queue up for a while as she was scanning the card the wrong way round - with the barcode facing down, not up. He then expressed his confusion why the cards don't scan upside down!! How dumb can some people get?!!
Which is why stupidity seems unlikely to be the problem. The club think its mainly down to late walkup, but I don't know how early were meant to be because the queues were massive at 20 to today, dunno how long before that. Thankfully the club have acknowledged there are issues with the turnstiles and scanning system and there'll be some new stuff installed in the summer to help fix the problem.
I wouldn't be so sure. Some body was stupid enough to design it, and somebody else was stupid enough to approve a system that is failing the safety guidelines it was designed to resolve. It was also raised with them right at the off, but it's just another example of 'we know best'.
PLT, I had three people in front of me when I went in at 3.30. I have to say that I have never waited more than a couple of minutes and because of that, I cannot find fault. There was a delay as the woman in front could not scan her ticket and even when it went on to green she did not move. At all of the turnstyles there was a steward waiting to help. But if this lady was anything to go by, the problem is made worse by her choice of clothing, having a handbag that must have had enough blankets and flasks for the whole stand, the biggest faux fur hat and coat (at least 2000 bin bags must have died in order for her to look like a Russian) and mittens! All of that aside, there is a problem and it happens at a lot of grounds. Upton Park was the worse for me.
Reading the post above yours, stupidity is clearly the problem. 1 ****wits like her will quickly cause a backup. The clubs putting in more turnstiles. The queues you reported weren't there 10 mins earlier. Your obsession with this is stupid.
