Were liverpool mugged again by a north east club?

The move from sunderland to liverpool is a 20 million cash deal with ngog likely to make a move the other way dependant on agreeing personal terms.

What are your views fellow reds? Im still unsure on andy carroll at £35 million he is young but no re-sale value and with as many goals as michael ricketts at this stage in his career i feel its a massive gamble, now henderson are fenway getting taken for a ride? I worryingly think so.

You're seeming more and more like a WUM than a pessimistic Liverpool fan.

I am pessimistic, can you blame me £55 million on two unknown quantities in Carroll and Henderson, when we could have bought 5 or 6 top class world class players already proven for that kind of money. time will tell i hope it works out

We have the money, perhaps you should place a bit more trust in our management than automatically declare this transfer an shambles.

It's £55m for 2 of the hottest prospects in English football, that's the way you should look at it.

You are a wum but I will run with your "theory" any way.

so what 6 proven world class players would come to LFC for £9M each and less total wages than caroll and henderson will be on?

You're making a huge sweeping statement there though, and the fact that our current England team is not the best does not mean that they won't be in the future.

    Gerrard is an England international.
    Carragher was an England international.
Wilshere, Young, Lampard, Terry, Cole, Rooney etc.. are all internationals and if you were to sell them on now, they'd command a much higher fee than £20m.

I thought he was a WUM when i read this article aswell!

Cheerup! im happy with Carroll and Henderson, adds depth, quality and potential! If they cost £100million each i wouldnt of cared, not really my money is it.

People are probably forgetting that the big transfer deals may not carry massive signing on fees, bonus' and wages

Unknown quantities dont play and score for england, scored in the english top flight. I am sure the people who have been watching him develope don't see him as an unknown qualtity. To you he is maybe, but your lack of knowledge of the guys developement doesn't make him an unknown quantity, if he turned pro at 19, then yes you may say that but that is not the case.

Carroll is a good player, the debate is whether he was worth 35m, not an unknown quantity at all imo, as with other young players he has ability and potential, if that is unknown quantity than all young players are the same.

Henderson has been watched and we are paying that because the people that have rated him deem him worth it. An unknown quantity would mean you never seen him play. So, watch them play then

How can you buy 5 or 6 'top class proven players' for 55 million? It's actually 48 million anyway. You might get a bargain for under 10m, but you won't get another 5. 5 or 6 would set you back at least 80 million.

all i saw was a few good performances at the start of the season, a complete flop on his england debut and a pretty shambolic remainder of the season, ok carroll looks decent but never worth 35 million and wont get anything near that should we sell. henderson has done little to command a 20 million figure is all im saying 5 million would have been more appropriate.

you would expect to pay 20 million for an acomplished player thats got experience has achieved something in the game, or if was young but has the undoubted talent to be a great in the game. he has done nothing to warrant such a massive fee and i think deep down you all agree its very steep

The guys that pull the strings at Liverpool are far from stupid. They obviously have big plans and can afford these kind of players so in my eyes its all good. Anyway whats 20 mil in todays game? **** all :)

No he isn't, he has been average for most of the season. I can't believe you are wasting all that money on him when you could have gotten someone good.
