Dean Saunders: ‘We conceded two rubbish goals’
please log in to view this image

    * Crawley boss Dean Saunders accused his players of ‘switching off’
    * He was not happy the two second half goals by Aden Flint and Luke Ayling.
    * If we let people score from corners then the Fox & Barrel can beat you.
    * I’m gutted we came away with nothing.
    * I’m absolutely gutted. I won’t sleep tonight.
    * We matched them toe-to-toe and were probably the better team.
    * We should have won today and we haven’t.
    * We made a team ten points clear at the top of the league look average at times.
    * I thought we played the better football.

Agree with him. We were **** yesterday but the best teams still win when playing poor.

If he takes them down that will be three relegations in 4 years.

I would take a good look at your management skills Dean before making comments like that.

    Saunders spouts some rubbish

He's a poor manager and that's why he resorts to blaming anyone but himself

Don't get **** mixed up with a method to get a result, the worrying thing, if it is a worrying thing is that we playing close to a plan which is getting results, which do not look tidy! I put some comments on the thread further to articles on bottom of the leagues which highlight our efforts

And I guess Saunders also thinks their goal would have made Messi proud.... What a Dick.

Seems to be a common theme this year from the opposition critics i.e. City didn't play well but seem to be getting the lucky breaks. Who am I to disagree?

Seldom this year have we played what I call exciting football. Having said that results indicate that we are 10 points clear and almost certs for promotion and I am sure we would have settled for that.

Saunders is quite rightly chastising his team will sharing a commonly held view about the City. Still when push comes to shove football is a results business and we got the result and they didn't. That's all that matters to the respective managers.

This is the part of the season where the better teams just grind out the results.
August to early November when players and pitches are fresh, is the time for the pretty, entertaining quality football. That is the time when a side establishes itself in the top four/five in the league.

Then comes a period of cup ties, darkest winter and the slog begins to take it's toll.

By mid February, many players are beginning to show signs of fatigue. Not necessarily physical but mental. The good squads help each other, the bad ones just cannot get results whatever they try.

It is the time for pulling in every point a team can get. Where many stumble over the line for promotion.

City are tremendous this season, because while we are getting the results without Ole type football, we are not yet showing too many signs of total fatigue.

Saunders can moan all he wants but it is this time of the season that separates the good managers and teams from the also rans!

I would say that applies till the new year when the half season becomes the run in, we are maintaining our first half 48 pts GF 42 GA 22 ( 28 pts GF 25 GA 10 ) BUT our football has become less "attractive" and more to " whats on the board Miss Ford" ! and causing opposition teams to waste bullets by firing from to far out!

Can you describe "exciting football" for us?

We are second top scorers by 1 goal behind MK Dons

We have the 2nd best defensive goals against, bar 2 goals worse than Preston

We are top by 10 points.

We have the best home and away record in the league.

I can only assume you weren't watching the football under SOD, because compared to that we are Barcelona in their pomp..

What exactly is it you want??

Banksy, I can quite understand your comments i.e. we are the best at almost everything and they are difficult to argue against. The thing I miss most of all is exciting forward play whereby strikers create chances out of nothing. If we still had Albert I am convinced we would have scored 15 more goals by now. We have a good overall team in which the non strikers are contributing a significant proportion of the goals. Some of performances this year whilst generating wins have been pretty dire to watch. I suppose I feel a bit like a Man U supporter, happy that we are winning but nor enamoured what we producing sometimes. We seem to perform better away from home than the Gate. Over Christmas we scraped past Yeovil, lets see how it goes tonight

I'm getting it now, you're trying to take Redprintts reputation as this forums Victor Meldrew from him..

He won't be happy, he revels in his 'most miserable role'....

You confuse miserableness with a viewpoint that does not accord with yours. The supporters of Man U and West Ham and Spurs demand attacking Football and are not chastised . I don't demand it just say I would like to see more of it

You are likening yourself to a minority of those fans who are just 'glory hunters' with no real understanding of the club they 'support' or of football in general..

We have nothing to moan about as Bristol city fans currently but you're finding a way. I dread to think what your gonna spout when we have a bad spell.
