2 in 2 for McClean who is apparently S---, and with that turd Hobbs playing in the now meanest defence in the league. FFS what do some people want from players they are supposed to support.

McLean has got 6 in 35 games for us. The fact two of them have come in his last two games doesn't change the fact that he's the most expensive striker in the squad and is only 3rd choice behind two other small strikers (ie if he was behind Adebola you could say it's because NP wants a big man up front so McLean would only be 2nd choice behind the other). When everyone is fit he's the most expensive player in the matchday squad, and he's not in the starting lineup (only in now because Waghorn is injured). The fact Waghorn cost Leicester more is a moot point because he hasn't cost us that much. Being the most expensive player in the matchday squad, and our most expensive non-PL signing ever you're going to attract criticism if you're a striker who can't get in the team because your return is about 1 in 6.

I also noticed in the Watford game, he does a lot of running about on the flanks and towards the half way line, but there were a few times when Brady was looking to play him at the side of the centre halves and he stood like a statue. I'd not really noticed the statuesque moments before, if it's a habit he's got then NP needs to be telling him to stop working so hard so far back on the pitch and save it for when he's up with the opposition defence and in the middle.

I can accept your second point as it's an observation you've made (admittedly one I haven't noticed). But I know from your previous posts that you're more intelligent than just looking at goal records for strikers. There is so much more to it than who puts the ball home. If you saw the Arsenal game today you'd see that Van Persire got a hattrick and two of them were very simple finishes because of how good the buil-up play was. That won't go on the other players' scoring records but it was their work. Just one of infinite examples showing that it's not just about who gets the goal.

As well as you not seeing it I don't know if it's regular or not. If you look at his goal today he did exactly what he didn't do against Watford (didn't someone say in the press they were going to pick apart the Watford video?).

Just explaining why he attracts the criticism, don't think the fact that when he misses it's usually spectacular is helping his case either. Personally I don't think he's got the composure to be a £1M+ striker, give him a split second to shoot and he's fine, give him time to think and he's usually like a jigsaw.

He's not really good enough, but he's not completely useless either.

It was a very well taken goal yesterday and he won us the game, so well done to him, but he still had some shocking touches throughout the game. As he came off injured, I suspect he'll be out for the Barnsley game, so let's hope Waggy makes it back, I don't fancy us trying to play 90 minutes with Adebola and Fryatt leading the line.

You seem to be making out Mclean is some sort of Zola or Beardsley setting up his strike partner and running rings round the opposition. He doesnt he just runs around a lot. ***an mark 2.

FFS fellas you're sounding like a load of Man U / Arsenal fans! Support your team a bit for Christ sake. Ive seen multi million pound premier league strikers miss more and better chances and do a damn sight less work.

OK he's not Kevin Phillips, Grant Holt or Van Percie! But he's one of our and deserves support NOT criticism. He won the Game at Peterbough, he got us back in the game with Watford and won us the game yesterday.

He gives 120%, can out jump most and IS a vital part of our team.

Be grateful and support your team and players a little bit please.

Oh and has for the ***an comment, he's twice as good as ***an ever was! He's also better than Garcia, Folan and a multitude of other strikers we've seen in the last twenty years.

As said above i am pleased for Mclean and do give him my support. But we didnt make the play offs last season cos of a lack of goals scored. We still arent scoring enough this season. That may cost us come May. Defence sorted. Midfield sorted. Up front still not complete.
I dispute the IS a vital part of our team. Of our squad maybe but if Waghorn is fit then Mclean drops out. Simple as. Dont you agree that Waghorn is better.

I agree with this. McLean is a good League 1 striker, who just can't quite hack it in the Championship. He lacks the intelligence and technique to succeed at this level, which he somewhat makes up for with his workrate on the pitch which can be a nuisance to the poorer defences in the league. Walsh, who I assumed recommended him to Pearson, doesn't often make costly mistakes, but this is definitely one of them. We could've bought a much better player with £1.6m.

I have never got this, i love my club and i will never boo or have a go at the team when they are playing. But we can on here, they are not going to read it and IMO Mclean will never score enough to be worth a million, but he tries hard which is why so many fans like him. I would still rather Waggy....

Face facts....we're not a high scoring team...yet we have the best defensive record in the Championship....that's the way we play now (under NP). I'm sure Fryatt, Waghorn and McLean could score a goal each a game if we played an attacking style of play....but I gurantee the opposition would score 4....and we'd lose.

McLean is PURE CLASS, always thought it and IMO, he is better than Fryatt.

Anybody see McLean's interview on the OWS Tigers Player with him dressed in pink with that Wig???

He is a top bloke and probably our biggest character at the club since DEANO.

Most of the other players love him too !!!
