2.5m bid rejected for hull defender

    We've just had a 2.5m bid rejected by Hull for their defender Harry Maguire... I thought we might be getting a few freebies and maybe spend 500-1m on a player but seems Lansdown is really backing Cotts!

    No bid according to Stockhausen, but confirmed discussions. Hull not interested in selling.

    Crazy money but if we're going to spend it, he is exactly the sort of player we should be splashing it on to be honest.

    The transfer market has changed since we were last spending money on players. Players we would have spent £1m on in our last Championship season would cost £3m or more today. It's a sad sign, but it's good to see that our manager is being backed with funds.

    I can't say I know too much about this guy, but I'm excited to see that we mean business this season.

    More interesting for me if true, is that sort of money for another central defender would maybe suggest Cotts is considering a 4 at the back system?

    Or moving Ayling to RWB.

    This would be a great signing if we pull it off. Would also make everyone in the league stand up and notice that Bristol City aren't here to make up the numbers.

    Maguire was a good prospect when at Sheff U but lost his way a bit following his move to Hull

    The guys on the Hull board say he is not for sale so assume the enquiry ended there. Hull probably leaked the story to show their fans that they are keeping some players

    There's two clubs after him, but we don't know who the other one is, unless someone comes in with a £5-6m bid, we won't be interested.

    He didn't lose his way when he joined us, we signed him for the youth squad, he played in cup games until we got knocked out of them and then he went out on loan. As soon as we got relegated he moved up into our first team plans, as he's a very capable Championship player.

    Cotts dosen't appear to be in the habit of spending £2.5m to sit someone on the bench every other week? (or rotating full stop)

    Welcome to the Championship :emoticon-0125-mmm: or is it Premiership 2? I must admit it shocked me a bit too but there are so may ex Premiership teams in this division this is probably the sort of money we need to be spending to mount a challenge, if we are serious about challenging that is?

    We spent a lot of money before and it failed us.

    The good news is that if this guy (who I admit I have never heard of) is worth that much then how much must Flinty be worth?!!!
