...kicked in this morning as I realised the transfer window is now open. This needs to be the time for effective movements in and out of Loftus Road...I say effective, because I'd rather see a few signings who really make a difference, as opposed to 8 or 9 come in and add very little. However, January is always a tricky time as most teams are fairly sorted, and they know their good players and want to keep hold of them. Lots of talk of Defoe, and other ex-Harry players...it will be a month of regularly checking online for any news...lets hope it brings the much needed boost our team needs. So, does anyone have any scoop/ideas/gut feeling as to who we might be getting in this January?

Lets hope it is a happy New year one and all!

~If Joe Cole is the answer, then god knows what the question is!
That seriously is adding to the dead wood. As a team also fighting relegation, I'd prefer our gaffer go sign a couple of young hungary Millwall lads than Joe. Top price has been if ever there was one.

I'm thinking Harry will pull some major signings out of his Houdini hat.
Wouldn't surprise me if all the names mentioned are just smoke screens and mirrors.
It is times like now, our situation, that all the experience of a manager like Harry, will prove his worth.

Imagine if we still had Hughes at this crucial time?

We'd be planning a tour of championship grounds, just to refresh ourselves for the next season.
As we stand now, Harry is doing his bit to ensure the tour bus stays in the loading bay ............ with the engine off and the keys locked away.

Please God not Joe Cole...young and hungry sounds much better. I'd rather go down with young blood who are fighting and will stay with us, than go down with has-beens who are looking for a final pay day. Best outcome would be young blood who fight, prove themselves, and we stay up...not impossible.

Dont berate Joe Cole......at this stage of the season, you arent going to get young stars or amazing Pro's when your rock bottom of the league in January.

Harry knows what the problem is and he will be looking to bring in good players, who are up for the challenge.

Joe Cole is NOT a money grabber and is still a quality player......if we can grab him till the end of the season and he boosts our squad then its a thumbs up from me....he wont be on £80,000 a week etc.

Harry knows what he is doing, just trust him......Joe Cole wont be the only one and we will be a lot better off after this window!

I struggle to see who is good enough for some people on here. The players we get are going to be let go from their current clubs because they dont particularly want them. At this stage of the season not many players are available.

Joe Cole would bring some creativity to the side which is lacking at the moment. Id much rather play cole than wright-phillips for sure.

Hi daverangers. Good post apart from mentioning Defoe. He is getting 1st team action at Tottenham with a reasonable chance of European football.

If he comes to LR, I'll do a (virtual) streak on the pitch!

I don't doubt that Joe Cole is a very good player, and on his day he can create chances and change games. I would also say that some, not all, would have said the same about SWP, Barton, Bosingwa and co as they were being signed, and it clearly hasn't worked out. I would just rather see a new approach with players who could still be around in a few years.

Yes...but your not taking into account our position.

You cant attract younger up and coming players in January when you are rock bottom...they wont come as it may not be good for their career should we go down.

The players you mentioned came here for the money....they arent rubbish purely because of their age.

You need players that are good enough and willing to work for the cause and arent demanding 70-80k in wages at the twighlight of their career.....if Joe Cole still has that hunger and Harry see that, then lets get behind it....it will probably only be a loan anyway.

Frankster I fail to see how cole is any different from SWP?? No goals, ageing, last chance saloon etc etc

Surely now is the time to blood some of our youngsters who we already have? If not now then when?

What youngsters? We've so neglected that side of the club that we have little if any realistic PL quality youngsters coming through. Ehmer and Harriman are the only ones who might eventually be first team players and that only at Championship level. We are now reaping what was sown when our Academy was closed in 2000...

Indeed...what youngsters? If you think the youth that QPR have produced can get us out then I would have to disagree with you.

You cant compare the two just because of their age.....Joe Cole might come in and really want to do well and prove himself back in the Premier League.....otherwise Harry wouldnt even consider him.

It having one last ditch go to stay up and our young guys will NOT do the business and you wont attract any decent younger players at this time of year in our situation.

Spot on as ever. We need to prepare a squad for the Championship and hope for a miracle if an enthusiastic influx also keeps us up.

What..Max Ehmer, Michael Harriman, Bruno Andrade, Angelo Balanta?

Thats giving up to me......they would be just like Mackie.....work hard, but no quality.

For me, if Joe Cole comes in on Loan till the end of the season, and works hard and does well along with any other decent players we can get hold of that want to work hard, then so be it.

Derry and Clint Hill are in the twighlight of their careers but still work hard......a lot of people are confusing age >30 = Mercanary...thats not the case.

You offer some guy who doesnt care 60-80,000 a week like Bosingwa then you get what we have.

Putting our youth team in the 1st team lineup would = giving up and thats not going to happen.

Think that this transfer window has to be as much about letting players go as getting more in. I have 8 players that IMO need to go between now and June. Ferdinand, Barton, Park, Granero, Cesar (only cause he’s allegedly on stupid money), Boswinga, M'Bia and Zamora. Would be happy to see at least three going now in Jan. I know this will leave us short but I'd bring back Young and DJ. Give Ephram a few games and but a couple of really good young Champ players that we can actually develop.
