I've been buying old kits that I've liked or had and outgrew, but got a question about the 1995-97 kit. Was it initially release with the badges straddling two stripes rather than completely in white stripes? Most pictures I see of the kit the badges are in white stripes like below:

But far less commonly it appears like this:

Just wondering if anyone knew anything about the two different versions, can't find anything on it online.

I know nothing about it, sorry. Not sure which one I prefer either...
Very much like this shirt though, have been looking at buying the long sleeved one!

Back in school we all had the one in the white stripe but one of our mates had the other one with the badge over black and white, he got ribbed for having a copy but turns out they made a few like that, I'm just not sure which came first.

I want to get the one with maroon and blue hoops, with "ALBERT - 27" on the back of course.

The blue and maroon goes for a lot these days, missed out on my chance to get one relatively cheap (~£10) by spending too long worry about size, a 90s large seems bigger than a large nowadays.

Yeah I saw one on Ebay fairly cheap about two years ago. I was going to get it but I'd spent a lot (can't remember the amount) that month and decided not to. Wish I'd got it now, they're hard to come by now and like you say, they're not cheap any more.

Really? How much is a lot? I have one in great condition. Also, my black n white one has the badge fully in the white stripe and I bought it in the club shop

Can't put my hand on it but I know I've got it somewhere. Got the shiny blue one too that I quite liked.

Just found a Northern Rock blue and black striped sort of kit too. Can't even remember buying it. Certainly haven't worn it.

Is it not just that the shirt is a different size but the striped material is the same regardless? Bottom image of Shearer looks like a tighter/smaller shirt?

I had that thought, but in most pictures Beardsley has the badges in white stripes version, and both versions can be found in just about any size, anything from small boys to the XLs.

For example this looks the same size as the one in OP:

Aye it was already baggy like, but I normally prefer a baggy sort of style in a football shirt.
    Now it's ridiculous!
