I'm sorting out my study and various files (which turned out to be a month long job) - and found myself flicking through a copy of Chequered Flag March 1994. After drooling over some line-ups : Senna/Hill for Williams, Barrichello/Irvine for Jordan, Alesi/Berger for Ferrari, I then noticed the Race list attached. Thought some of you might get all nostalgic about the venues.
I could never understand people's antipathy towards Hockenheim because that was one of the main circuits that really piqued my interest in F1. The insane top speed runs punctuated by 'nad-grinding chicanes and the slippery infield section under very low downforce really grabbed my attention. Wet Hockenheims were great, too. Buenos Aires was a barren, featureless ****hole. This was the season featured in Geoff Crammond's 'Grand Prix' game. I have fond memories of that, too.
ah yes 1994. The harsh lesson that F1 was and still is dangerous, Schumacher has illiegal car for half of it, is dsq/banned for a quarter of it and still wins the WDC after taking out Damon. Shame how few of those circuits are still around in their layout as they were back then.
F1 will always be dangerous whoever drives on the track. Sorry but unless the speed of Michael Schumacher's car can be proven illegal by yourself using documentation from the FIA, your sentence is not viable Chris.
You still had the time and effort to include your arch nemesis though Chris, that is the sad thing. What is worse is that you cannot prove that his car was illegal. Something tells me your beloved Damon Hill and his DNF in the race and the victor as Schumacher the 1994 champion in Adelaide is the reason you have a problem against this man. He may be beloved I don't care about that, but at-least I can respect Damon as a solid driver in F1, which is not even the least you can do about Michael. ----------------------------- During the 1994 season, some rival teams claimed Benetton had found a way to violate (loophole) the FIA-imposed ban on electronic aids, including Traction Control and Launch Control. On investigation, the FIA discovered "start sequence" (launch control) software in the Benetton B194 cars, and a variety of software in rival teams' cars as well. FIA had no evidence the software was ever used, so teams found with the software received little to no punishment. No traction control software was found to be in the Benetton cars. Don't forget the team was British, so it was kind of ironic that a British used an "illegal" advantage over other teams including a British contender for the title. At the end of the day, loopholes are found in nearly every season in F1, including in 2011. Benetton just maxed that opportunity than anyone else. Michael Schumacher at the helm made the results even more prominently than Verstappen could..
As much as we enjoy this weekly argument we don't, so quiet down... or at least copy and paste all previous points into one post to save this going on for several pages please.
- and for Manny's benefit - Schuey got round Barcelona in testing with a 1m 17.6, compared to Hill's 1m 18.4.
Whilst a lot of time is put towards the events of Imola that year, many forget that JJ Lehto, Jean Alesi and Pedro Lamy all had massive testing accidents that casued them to miss part of that season and Karl Wendlinger & Mimo Schitaerella(?) had practice crashes that did likewise. With everything that happened in the races that year too, it really was a wake-up call for the authorities.
lols, me too, except the pheonix GP, I hated that track. playing 2 or 3 player was a pian in the arse, I lost count of how many times my automatic driver lost the race for me. As for the 94 season, well, we ALL know the truth of illegal electronics, denying it is just stupid.
yeah, the auto driver was ****e. It was like have Paul Belmondo at the wheel! I liked the add-on program you could get whereby you could change the designs and colours of the cars (and their horsepower!)
Would you like it named after you? We could call it Bhaji's law, whereby everytime 1994 is mentioned, Schumacher, cheat & Damon Hill are mentioned in the same post!
I got into it after I was winning the WDC in a Simtek. Did find that if you cranked it up to 1500bhp, it was slower than when you had say 750bhp as you just wheelspun the whole way around! Did come up with some cracking designs for the cars though
