So, how do we really feel about it? It hurts badly! No getting away from it. The gloating is coming and I suppose they are entitled to do so. We need to ignore it concentrate on our own club and or own future. Take a good look at the papers and the sports news, remember the image of Manchester united lifting the title for a 19th time. Every time we play remember that feeling, store it away inside and cheer our team on more than ever before. Change is inevitable it has happened before and it will happen again. Lets move on, lets give United something to worry about. Next season is our season! And if not? it will be the next season, or the one after but we will keep going and we will keep supporting our team.
yeah im bothered about it but there is the feeling inside me telling me they wont be holding onto the record for as long as we did. Give kenny a few seasons and we will be back up there contending, who knows what the future holds? I feel next season 4th or above and a cup would be great
You know what? I'm kind of glad about it. Let's face it, it was going to happen anyway. Now it's out of the way, and we have Dalglish in charge, possibly the only manager in Britain who can rival Ferguson now. United getting their 19th will hurt only in the fact their fans have something else to gloat about, but it will fill our players with a new vigour and it's another goal. I can see this being the exact thing to make us want the perch again.
I don't agree with all you've said there, I believe the only way to become long term successful is to produce your own talent. Arsenal for instance have got a lot of young "home-grown" talent, and they're in the top 4. Man Utd have quite a few homegrown talent too, and bulk it out with their signings. We're on the verge of producing a whole team of homegrown talent. Barcelona produce mainly their own players and then buy high priced players to fill the positions they are weak in. I think the only way to be truly successful is to produce your own talent. Man City and Chelsea won't be doing that for atleast 5 years, if they ever do.
Yes I agree there, but with Barcelona for example. They used their home talent first to win trophies, boost revenues etc.. Then used that money to bulk out their squad with quality players. I think if you can get the core of the team right, with homegrown talent then you've got a winning formula. Man United are on a delicate balance at the moment, their owners, despite being heavily indebted, will fork out money to AF when needed. When Ronaldo left, you could see there was a Ronaldo shaped hole in the team, until Nani stepped in and effectively filled the space, for ~15m or w/e AF spent on him. As soon as the money stops coming in, there will be no more replacements. Liverpool are quite the opposite, we have a few holes missing. Those left behind by Alonso, Hyypia, Riise and Riera. Yet in all the other positions we're very strong and a cohesive unit. In the past few years we've had a net loss of ã20m in player sales; every other team in the current top 6 has spent money. Now it's our turn to spend money and I think once we've spent some, we may not have to spend some for quite a while as our newest crop of youngsters come through.
Ze Liverbird. I agree with that. Its our turn to spend money.Spurs have benefitted from our financial crisis, but that financial crisis is over.Stability has returned and the premiership is going to be dealing with a completely different Liverpool from now on.Lets see how they cope. When we gain success thats when the spending will stop, okay there will be some spending to keep it fresh. But only the level of spending will decrease as you said there won't be a need for a massive overhaul.
That would be nice! I'd also like to see our 2 teams play each other early on in the season whilst everyone is fit, Should be quite a spectacle to see 2 teams playing attractive football against each other.
It does hurt. However what gives me satisfaction is that it won't take us 25 years to knock them off. What they haven't realised is that we're back and we're aiming to inflict as much pain on them as possible. We're on our way up,and they're on their way down.
I respect successful opponents, but being happy for them? what sort of touchy feeley cr@p is that. lmao, "happy for them". Oh Dear
Totally agreed. Fair play for them for taking 25 years to get above us.However it won't take us 25 years to overtake them.
eureka!! After all my calculations using advanced mathamatical equations I have came up with a number. It's 2 wins to retake the record
That certainly won't take 25 years to achieve. Unless they start grooming a successor for Baconface now,and get sold, they won't be winning titles for much longer.I still believe that job will become a poisoned chalice and they will have to wait until they find another Ferguson to pull them up by the boot-straps.They will appoint someone that will attempt to change everything and they will end up back where they were in 1986.We're on our way up and it happened at the worst possible time for them, everythings is place for a new Anfield Dynasty.
No matter who gets the job it will always be a big big change for United, he's been there a hell of a long time and I think he has definately been the deciding factor in especially the last few titles definately this one. Fergie no doubt plans to hopefully win this CL and try again next year, I reckon he plans to retire when he has at least an even number of Euopean championships hence leaving United unarguably the most successful team in England's history.
