Last seasons champions Luton after 18 games was 2nd on 34 points. We are currently 5th on 32 points. That 1-1 home draw against Dover conceding that injury time goal, if we managed to hang on, we would be now 2 points better of which would place us 2nd on 34 points, identical to Luton at this stage last season. Of course, Luton managed to score for fun ending up on 102 goals for the season. I think being where we are - 5th, we are in a good position to do a Luton. We just need that striker who can stay injury free and can score for fun. Get this player and we can do a Luton. We are still pretty much on par with what they did last season. Also Cambridge was top at this stage last season on 41 points after 18 games. Current leaders Barnet after 18 games was on 39 points. Cambridge was caught, so can Barnet!
I'm really happy with the decent start. For many years we've languished in the bottom half of the table and then only get going... sometimes... after Christmas. I think we can definitely overhaul Barnet. But a few other teams look serious contenders too, so it should be interesting. But I think we've got a really good management team so I'm very optimistic...
Gastro is without a doubt the most optimistic fellow on this board. But despite my misgivings I have to agree with him - it's nice to be fighting at the business end of the table for a change and DC is definitely got the players playing for the quarters
