Considering how poorly we've started this season and the uncertainty of a pickup in form and points anytime soon (although I do believe that a recovery is imminent) would you settle for where we finished last season; or do you think that we're bound to begin to rise up the table once we get our first win and should be comfortably clear of the relegation zone by season's end, and nothing else will do?

I hope we get our first win soon and we begin to climb the table.

Even at this stage, I wouldn't settle for 17th. We should be aiming higher.

If however our bad form continues for another few matches, well then yes, I would settle for 17th.

I said we would finish 14th at the start of the season and for the moment, I still think we will finish 14th.

At the start of the season i'd have considered 17th a failure, at the moment I'd bite your hand off if you offered it

Same here. Hoping for anything more is tempting fate right now.

<that counter hex should see us easily finishing top six!>

Right now I'd tip us for relegation if we don't change the Manager within about a month. Change the Manager now to anyone half decent who will use the attacking talent that we have in the squad, and with a good new CB, Striker and LB from January, we should stay up.

If we are still bottom three after the Fulham game then Hughes will go, i don't TF will have a choice with the Jan Transfer window looming and a new manager to reinvigorate new and existing players..........

Considering the amount of money available for Prem teams next year Prem survival is vital. 17th is not what I hoped for but it will do.

Considering we can barely string a good half together, I'd gladly take 17th.

At the moment there are only 7 pts between us and 10 th so if people get their collective thumbs out of their collective butts then we could rise up the table smoothly, however things need to happen soon else we will definitely be in that fight for 17th again.

I can. It is possible. Those earlier performances were a good sign. The break might just have sorted us out. Hughes might have realised what most of us believe to be true. Taraabt might just be about to set the league alight. Cisse might go on an unstoppable scoring spree. The back 4 might have sorted themselves out. It is possible, not definite, but possible.

    It is possible, I agree.
However, I can't agree that "those earlier performances were a good sign"....because Hughes picked players in the wrong positions and deployed the wrong formation and tactics in too many of them.
Although it IS POSSIBLE that Hughes will learn from his mistakes. Please God let that start on Sunday!!

17 is a number that brings misfortune in some cultures, their version of 13. If we had finished 16th we would probably be climbing the table towards a certain Champions League place, that would be our true destiny.

I stated on another board at the bigining of last season that I'd take 17th and 17th this season..got absolutely slated for it....

Right now I'd take 17th although we should be aiming higher....
