16 yr old beaten up for "Wenger out" banner at Wigan away

I've noticed a certain degree of arrogance about the pro Wenger lobby on this board and the above represents perhaps an extreme example of this.

It's almost akin to religious fanatics defending their Messiah. People should be allowed to have opinions without being disparaged as "whinging kids" (a phrase one Wenger desciple used in the post Bradford debate) or even physically harmed.

I love Wenger but have very strong feelings about the way the club is being run.

 

Using terms like 'messiah' & 'disciple' only continue to add fuel to the fires.

 

I said "almost akin" and merely extended that metaphor when using the word disciple.

Plus in the wake of a kid being physical assaulted they're hardly strong words.

Your response is a case in point of the over sensitivity which sometimes resembles that shown by religious zealots

So because you appear to disagree with them they are arrogant, akin to religious fanatics and dont allow people to have opinions. Sounds to me like you are the one going over the top and making extreme accusations.

Its quite understandable that fans who love their club want the best for it and some debates will get heated, but to make these kind of general accusations is just over the top. The accusation of someone getting beaten up just for a banner is unsubstantiated and you have not been able to provide a single link to back up your allegation. In fact I havent found any trustworthy sites carrying a story to say this, how do you know it was not a case of some obnoxious kid annoying, threatening or even robbing someone who finally lost their temper with him and beat him up and the fact he was carrying a Wenger Out flag was just coincidence?

I never condone violence and if this story is true i hope the lad is OK but i do find it interesting that it was a 16yr old with a "Wenger Out" banner.

Until you an actually provide any proof of this story, I claim bollocks. The fact you have such a sensational story but no proof or the fact that no media outlet has taken it up speaks volumes. And linking into a forum where people have varying opinions unjust smacks of making evidence up stuff to suit your point. also even if it is true what difference should that make to my point of view I don't condon violence and am sure the 'pro wenger' brigade would not either.
