Great series. So many great quotes. Biggest downside was the launch of graham norton's career over here.
It was an alright show. Funny at times but I never understood the hype around it. Mrs Brown's Boys is a far better showcase of Irish humour.
Not sure if you are taking the piss or not,I can't stand Mrs Brown's Boys and over here I'd called a begrudger because of that.
The Irish just aren't funny, sure they are funny as in strange, but not in a humourous way. I blame the schools.
Watched Mr's Browns Boys once.....thought it was alright! Watched it a second time......pile of shoit!!!! For some reason I sometimes still watch it!!! What irritates me are the cock ups and interaction with the audience which are meant to look improvised but are obviously rehearsed!!! Think I'll watch Police Squad tonight on dvd!
Mrs Brown is a really funny groundbreaking comedy...if this was 1990 Mind you its for old dears watching the BBC so the above is probably true for them at least
i watched one episode of fr ted and thought it was pretty average so never watched again. the hype around mrs browns boys bemuses me. my sister brought a dvd here and i watched the first three episodes. utter ****ing ****. i would say two pints of lager and a packet of crisps was better and that has to be one of the ****iest "comedies" ever.
Thought the first two series of Father Ted were brilliant, after that it became a bit stale and a bit self-congratulatary i.e. the odd round of applause mixed in with the canned laughter. Not the only comedy to do that. The geezer probably picked the right time to die because a fourth series would have been one too many. One or both of the writers also worked on Black Books and The IT Crowd so they're great talents...even though they are mono-browed tattie munchers. Mrs Brown's Boys is bleeding awful.
TPOLAAPOC was pitiful yet they made several series then more or less repeated the sorry affair with Grownups.
I don't like it but plenty do with sell-out shows, ratings,DVD sales and been picked up around the world plus Brendan O'Carroll kept the rights and is coining it in ever since so I take my hat off to him for that.
