Which of these 21st Century 1st team appearing goalkeepers were "good enough".

Not many greats on the list, how would you rate them?

    Sander Westerveld
    Pegguy Arphexad
    Jerzy Dudek
    Chris Kirkland
    Patrice Luzi
    Paul Jones
    Scott Carson
    Pepe Reina
    Brad Jones
    Danielle Padelli
    Charles Itandje
    Diego Cavalieri
    Alexander Doni
    Simon Mignolet
    Loris Karius

By and large that list gives me shudders.

Pegguy has probably got the most medals and played the least games. Certainly the best medals to games ratio.

One of them was against Stoke in the league cup when he messed up and let them score. We did score 8 so it did not really matter

Sander Westerveld - confidence player. if he got a clearance wrong he'd then lose it totally.
Pegguy Arphexad - he blackmailed houllier. can only be the reason why he got a deal.
Jerzy Dudek - average at best
Chris Kirkland - unlucky but never got going. body imploded really.
Patrice Luzi - again.. very odd.. like as if houllier was blackmailed.
Paul Jones - peggy so bad he was loaned as a 40 year old.
Scott Carson - average player. championship player level which is where he ended up
Pepe Reina - good player. weak in air
Brad Jones - terrible player but there you go
Danielle Padelli - never played, child
Charles Itandje - worst of the lot
Diego Cavalieri - 3mil buy who could not kick a ball. decent keeper but polar opposite to reina
Alexander Doni - pointles reserve signing. better than jones maybe once
Simon Mignolet - looked good in a bad side making lots of saves but when it becomes you've 3 to make and must make them he didn't stack up. but he was solid enough on his strong points
Loris Karius - from the research i did to look at him i don't see a worldie here. not shocked thus far.

he and james are the only one who really made any sort of top level career for themselves. that says a lot.

At least these days we've seen players like sterling, alonso, suarez leave and do better things suggesting we can at least find a player. but the amount of youths who left us i could say had a career.. count on one hand?

Neither were top draw though. Reina is the clear standout keeper in the list.

Manninger has never managed to make a professional appearance for us. If I include him there are others I would need to add too.

My point being is, we've had very few good keepers in the 21st Century despite having a goal-keeper revolving door. Karius is probably better than half the dross. Of the list Reina is probably the only one I'm proud to admit having played for us.

Even more so than LB, Gk has been a weak spot for us over the years.

Reina was brilliant for most of his career at LFC.

Dudek started off very well but bottled it.

I don't think I saw Luzi play. If I did I forgot it. Apparently layed against Chelsea in 2004.

    Maybe selective amnesia.

You should work on Sky Sports worth analysis like that! Bottled it? He was the hero in the penalty shoot out in Istanbul, the biggest occasion in his career. Not exactly a sign of a bottler <laugh>
