When BBC606 closed we all went looking for a new home to discuss Norwich City FC and all things football. As it happened, most of us ended up here and we didn't lose too many friends. Quite a few of us posted on '12yards' at first and it seemed a great alternative to BBC606, a no frills site that particularly appealed to me at the time. I would often still visit the site even though I didn't post anymore, now I see that it has closed. Hopefully we can keep this site alive for a long time and perhaps those boards on here that are full of tumbleweed at the moment will one day thrive like ours.

    12yards RIP ....<rose>

12 yards was a far more user friendly interface to use, better navigation and more attractive to look at.

It just didn't get the people in quick enough before this place became established.

The thing that really bugs me about this site is the massive gaps under each post just to accomodate the daft join dates etc. They're not needed just ditch them and we won't have the bastard scrolling through everything.

And it looks like it was built about 20 years ago.

Like most of you I joined 12yards but it soon became apparent that not606 was the stronger site and I was posting more on here and less and less on 12yards. I do not think I had posted on there in the last 6 months and have not even looked on the site in the last 3 months. I agree that it was more user friendly but never really took off. Mind you, if we continue to lose regular contributors like we have in the last couple of months our Board could start to slip away. I often disagreed with the likes of Carla and Supers but they were always keen to express their views and I miss them. Anyone know if there is any hope of them, and others, returning?

    Carla was just plain bonkers.

I do miss the rucks with Pyjamas, although I think at times the conversations on here sounded like political broadcasts on behalf of the Norwich City Party.

There is a much broader viewpoint now amongst posters for people to bounce off.

I have posted a bit more often lately as there seems a bit more acceptance of diverse views. That said the remaining 1 or 2 that for me cause the problems remain, however they have every right to express themselves but just need to realise that there are different opinions where football is debated and sometimes we just need to agree to disagree. There is no questioning everyone here loves the club.

At some point, we should be moving to a newer, more modern looking design. Mick the site owner did create a test server, which I would have posted a screenshot from except for some reason it's off-line (I've just asked why). I agree the list of information is too long, it can be cut down by removing as much as you can from you profile page, but it's not ideal. You can also turn off signatures in the settings menu too if you haven't already.

I agree that contributors such as Carla and Superman are noticeable - and missed, by their absence but I can understand why. It all got well messy recently - it may well do again if we don't beat Reading <yikes> but as said above, we all want the same thing.

For me, for this season, it's now all about survival - by whatever means.
Everything else can be addressed in June and July <ok>

Miss seeing Superman's posts for sure, but his problems were outside this forum, weren't they? Pretty sure he could handle anything in here, and hope whatever was troubling him may have relented.

'Carla' was 'Wonky', no? Odd that he'd come back pretending to be a woman. He was a young man, seemingly with severe health issues, so I'm guessing that would make me cranky too. An intelligent lad, hope he feels he can come back.

Otherwise, people are what they are, good on 'em, it's what makes the world go around. I just hate whingers, really I do. Life's too short, it's just a frigging football forum.

    This ^^^^

I am not disappointed about the demise of another forum to be honest and for only one reason...............

I could single out a particular club but will refrain from doing so as I do not think they are actually unique in the following respect. With two (or more) different platforms each then has the potential to become stale as each board tends to attract and retain people of a similar mindset, and each thread ultimately becomes full of "yes men" and clones that do not appear to have any opposing POV and are happy to go along with the crowd. Some fans (probably most if not all) will move on if they do not fit in (if they have an alternative to go to) and bad mouth the previous forum because they don't agree with what the masses are saying. To me that is far more unhealthy than having a ding-dong on a single forum <ok>

The two forums I have in mind are exactly like this, with very few that take part in both. They are either in 1 camp or the other and stay with the camp that gives the replies they would rather read. That's their choice, as sad as it is in my eyes, and I would hate for our fanbase to become the same.
