I've just been talking to a Man Utd fan I know in the local shop, we always have a bit of banter I give him stick for being a "glory hunter" which is not really fair as he has been a Utd fan for years and follows them home and abroad whenever he can. Anyway he was at the Liberty yesterday and was full of praise for the Swans support, he has watched Utd at every PL ground over the years, and said that being at Swansea yesterday reminded him of being at Stoke where the crowd act as a 12th man and will the team on. I saw the game yeterday on ESPN and thought the Swans were worth a point, but it was hard to get a sense of the atmosphere, but according to this guy it was electric. So could this be one of the reasons for Swanseas good home form? Was the atmosphere better than normal, because one of "the big boys" was in town, or are the crowd really Swanseas 12th man?
Hi Prophet, couldnt make the game last night but have been to quite a few this year home & away and yes the fans have been outstanding. it shows what support can do for a team. imagine if we have 2 derbies next year in the EPL hey
proph they are deffo a 12th man Loud every game and it does help when the away side fill there part of the ground and if there loud it adds to it and even that seems to spur our lot on
Our fans were awesome yesterday as we have been all season. But having one of the biggest clubs in the world down the white rock must have made us sing a bit louder. I know I had a soar throat last night. They might have sold out their part but even from where I sit, about 23yards out. It seamed we kept them quiet for most parts of the game. As a football club as a whole, including the fans. I was so proud of us yesterday. We lost the game but we achieved so much.
This guy, hardly a mate more of an accquaintance is Man Utd first, Cardiff second, and certainly has no love for Swansea, so for him to be singing your praises, well it must have been good.
The atmosphere was awesome - even 15 - 20 mins before kick off, the stadium was standing and bellowing out songs... I agree that the away support had no hope of being heard mostly - fantastic game. That said the atmosphere and crowd have been great in all the games this season, as to be expected and yes it has to help and be perceived as the 12th man somewhat - I think that's what everyone is trying to do too, no-one is under any illusions how tough this league is and believe any help is something, if that can only be making some noise from the fans. Be fab if we can have the derbies back next year and in the EPL. good luck with your season
Its been bouncing down there since the drum came down - that guy is a legend who brought that down. I honestly think that drum won us promotion last year
