So no âsix geese a layingâ weâll have to make do with âfour calling birdsâ as we sit on top of the League Two Christmas tree on 42pts from 21 games 2pts above the chasing pack, which includes the mad for it Hatters who visit Adams Park on Boxing Day for an all ticket encounter. The Hatters league form has been a bit of a roller coaster over the last six weeks having won all their home games and lost all their away games in fact they havenât won away from home since mid October lets hope that trend continues. Gareth Ainsworth should have recovered from illness and will be barking out his orders from the touchline and with no new injury problems to report we just await Hoganâs return from his back problem. I will be at AP for this festive occasion squeezing myself into the hopefully packed terrace looking forward to seeing the lads maintain their place at the top of the Christmas tree with âseven swans a swimmingâ Merry Christmas everybody
I hope so Guy but I hate teams coming to us without a win in xx. All runs come to an end and it could be with us. We are way down the League on home form so it's going to be tight. I think we will do well to get a draw but it all depends how we play. If we can get yet another team down to 10 men it will help. Prediction 1-1 Hope we do better than that and play good football to make your visit enjoyable
Should be goals in this game so i predict it will finish 2-2. With over 7.000 tickets sold i hope the players put on a good show for the fans.
A point apiece was definitely a fair result and reflection of the game. Jose, yes Hayes should have scored but then so should they about 15 minutes prior when their left winger squared it across the box and blasted it straight at Ingram from all of 8 yards, anywhere else and it was 2-1 Luton. Ref was reasonably good, missed a few blatant handballs by Luton & didn't pull up their CB for the constant holding of Hayes, but I don't feel he affected the result of the game in any way. Ingram: 7 - Good save at point blank range from Luton early in the second period, one slightly nervy moment with Pierre's back header in 2nd half, but distribution & in the air was good as usual Jombati: 6.5 - Worked tirelessly, decent distribution of the ball but often found himself a little too far up the field, letting them in on a few occasions Mawson: 8 - Absolute workhorse, won everything in the air and then turned to midfield playmaker as well in the last 10 when the midfield were tiring. My MOTM. Pierre: 7.5 - Great in the air, good tackling, one slightly nervy moment with Ingram Jacobson: 7 - Nice running & good cross for the goal, but his delivery from corners wasn't up to it's usual standard. Solid defensively as usual. Cowan-Hall: 7.5 - Got up well for the goal, occasionally tried to take too many men on, but caused their left back all manner of problems & chased back when we were in trouble defensively, some great tackling too. Murphy: 6.5 - Good in the air, but his passing and distribution was a little off, sat too deep for my liking today. Rowe: 6 - Again, distribution lacking. Went off at H/T, hope he's not out of the Shrews game. Wood: 7 - Battled away in difficult conditions, held the ball up well & picked out his men with passes, not given too many chances to cross. Hayes: 7.5 - Missed an absolute sitter with 20 minutes remaining which would have put us 2-1 up, but credit to him he ran for every ball from 1st minute to 94th and linked up exceptionally well with Paris especially, we've finally found a striker that's a perfect fit for the team. SUBS: Bloomfield: 7 - Put a huge shift in when he came on at H/T, tackles flying in left, right & centre, at least 2 crucial blocks. Passing could've been better, but did his job very well.
You just about summed it up Tom we were at our best early on and late on they were on top start of the second half but both teams prety much cancelled each other out for much of the game playing 5 in midfield. There was a good atmosphere but a little suprised at the official figure for the crowd at 7,539 as I couldn't see where an extra 2,500 could be squeezed in not in the terrace as it was sardines in there also it was good to see Rocky at the game
I was at the top of Frank Adams and there were empty seats, having said that I had to sit much further back than usual! The Luton fans didn't totally fill the Beechdean stand either, hence 7,500
