At this point 2 seasons ago we sacked our manager, when we were bottom of the league with 4 points. Now, we are bottom of the league but with twice as many points, and a win at home next week against Leicester takes us off the bottom and possibly out of the bottom 3.

Of the last 5 games I've only seen the highlights of Liverpool, Villa and City, a bit of the Chelsea game and the last 30 minutes of today's game (two average teams, can't believe Newcastle are 5th, on chances made probably a fair result, but nothing like as dispiriting as the Spurs, Utd and West Ham 'performances'). Overall I've been encouraged by the comments on here about recent performances. Yun, Vargas, Charlie scoring, Henry doing a real job (apologies for my previous scorn), a little more shape, spine and spirit all positive. I think we've got a decent squad, on paper they should be able to make a fight of it, and we are not adrift.

But we can't get a point away from home, we struggle to keep a clean sheet and we are about 5 points short of where we need to be. And even Burnley are winning. We really have to win 3 of the next 5 to get to Christmas with hope, which is all I'm looking for - a chance.

Redknapp? Well, he said he could keep us up when we had 4 points at the same stage 2 years ago, so this should be a piece of piss. Credit for getting us looking a better team, giving the opposition a game. Now get the points. Whatever I think of him, his job should be safe, Fernandes backs him, this is his team, his responsibility to keep us up, no point looking elsewhere now. I hope we don't throw too much cash around in the next window, especially if we are adrift by then. I've found that the simple approach of not watching/ listening to anything he says and ignoring any Redknapp related threads on here makes him slightly more bearable. And it saves you the tedium of me moaning on about him too.

Optimistic? Hmmm, that may be overstating it.......but at the moment there's more hope than last time round. Time will tell.

No ambition and no points away from home is not good enough. They're not 'bonus games' 'Arry, we need points on the board.

Relatively easy games coming up and things might look different at Christmas - still bottom and Redknapp must go.

At this stage all that "bonding" BS should be long gone. Simply so far it's been a roller coaster of awful badly managed away performances, promising home form and missed opportunities. 8 points from 12 games is relagation form. We have to get the points over the next four games , but for me Redknapp should have gone after the West Ham nightmare.

These next two home games will determine if we stay up

For the OP, tan, thats fair enough from you. We both said we'd give him 13 (i thought) games before making a decision.
I'm going with not sacking him. We got a decent squad, they are trying, they are playing some nice football occasionally and they do appear to be a TEAM TOGETHER....That is a 1 Million % percent on everything we've been dished up over the past 2 seasons.
He's got rid of (most) of the crap and descriptiveness and you can see they are actually trying for each other.

I said I could stomach relegation (barely) If I saw sign of improvement in both our play and our effort, and if we went down fighting. We're clearly getting there, just hope the season is long enough. With Isla and Vargas back and a few more "even handed" games coming up, we need points and this is the best chance we will have.

I wont pretend to be happy with our points or position, but i think he should keep his job.

Thats just my opinion and obviously dont expect everyone too agree.....I for one cannot see a decent replacement thats available ATM anyway ?

The next two home games are crucial both in getting points on the board and some momentum going, lose to Leicester and Burnley and it's curtains for us and Harry...

We've played 6 away games and 5 have been against the current top 6 with the other against Spuds who will be up there at some stage, we have been very unlucky with the away games to start the season with but at least some of those are out the way and we should have some more winnable ones to come, next few games could shape our season!

Didnt like the midfield set up today. Too defensive and we were never going to have the fluidity of the last few games and we definitely missed the chilean's movement.

Redknapp needs to get ten points from the next four home games to survive imo. Hard to see us winning any away game, but assuming we get one point from the three away games, this would give us 19 points from 19 games. Still in a relegation position.

I said at the start of the season that our home from was crucial and that if we did as well as we could at home, we didn't need to pick up that many points away. It was obvious looking at our fixture list that we wouldn't get too many opportunities to pick up points away in our first nine or ten games. That hasn't changed. The odd result here and there won't be enough but we need to stay in touch and make the most of our opportunities when we play the likes of Sunderland, Villa, Leicester and Burnley away. We beat Sunderland and Villa (comfortably) at home - neither can score and there is every reason to be optimistic when we play them. My only gripe is that we are over-reliant on the Austin - Zamora partnership up front and therefore a bit one-dimensional It will be criminal if we don't target our attacking capability in January.

I was at the game yesterday. The support was fantastic and it felt a pretty even tame affair which could have gone either way. The stats seem to bear that out. However if truth be told we never really threatened when we had the ball. Our best opportunities were two strikes in the second half from our substitutes. First, Krancjar who simply took too long to tee himself up with the angle narrowing all the time and then Junior Hoilett for whom the path to glory suddenly opened up. For a moment we all stood up before being reminded that it was Junior Hoilett after all as a tame shot straight at Krul was comfortably saved.

Redknapp has done enough to be given the chance to develop the squad in January. He also needs to have a word in the ear of Fer - something along the lines of "You've got 45 minutes to persuade me or I'll replace you." He promises so much yet has no heart or desire and needs far too many touches before he delivers the ball. He should not be playing on the right wing and just because he is Dutch does not make him a deadball wizard.

However I would not look beyond May with him in charge. Even Tony must realise that.

Redknapp's fear of teams away from home is getting embarrassing. If we don't start picking up the odd win away from home then we will go down. I don't think a team has ever stayed up not having won an away game all season, let alone pick up a few draws. He's put himself in a pressurised situation again. Like Villa last month, he now has to win the next game. Leicester is as crucial as that game was.

All the positive performances against the top teams don't mean diddly when you then go and lose to the mediocre teams.

He's got us to bottom of the league, Yorkshire. As I posted elsewhere, we need 11 points from our next 7 games to reach 19 at half-way. Anything less should see the end of Redknapp imo.

It won't matter Queens, if we lose at home to Leicester and Burnley you can put Mourinho in charge and we'll still go down...

If we were to get to the end of the year with less than 19 points I'd get rid of Redknapp and ask Hoddle and Ferdinand (Les) to take over until the end of the season.

Queensy, going down is not an option. It'd be disastrous. We need to beat both Leicester and Burnley or we're up sh*t creek without a paddle.
