Wow! What a list to stumble on. Some belters of loan signings. Some absolute stinkers. Some even worse! Have a flick through the list & wonder how we could have sourced so much dross so consistently. Then again, perhaps there's another Adryan fan out there. Doubt it ..... :)

From Crainey to Augustin - The 113 Leeds United loan signings since Premier League relegation rated and slated
Leeds United have seen *a lot* of loan players come through their doors since their 2004 relegation from the top flight

Loan signings have become more and more of a staple of the game in recent years.

The stockpiling of talented players at big clubs and FFP rules in the lower divisions are two factors in ensuring that the loan market has become a key part of any transfer window.

Few clubs have wheeled and dealed in the loan market as much as Leeds United in recent times. Since the club were relegated from the Premier League in 2004, a whopping 113 players have signed up on a temporary deal at Elland Road.

So with nothing else to do during the current suspension of the season, we thought we'd go back to August 2004 and run the rule over each and every loan signing the club have made since being our of the top flight.

Some were hits, some were misses and others barely registered on the collective conscious of the Leeds fans. But here they all are...

    1. Stephen Crainey - August 2004

Leeds' first loaning signing since the club were relegated came from Southampton and saw his deal made permanent just four days later in a £200,000 move. Would make 62 appearances before joining Blackpool where he had a stint playing in the Premier League.

    2. Brett Ormerod - September 2004

A pretty underwhelming stint from the prolific former Blackpool man, who played half-a-dozen games on loan from Southampton with his most notable contribution a missed penalty against Sunderland.

    3. John Oster - November 2004

Signed on a month’s loan from Sunderland, it turned out to be a forgettable period for the Welshman. He scored just one goal in eight games and was given a fine after being arrested in Durham. Eventually, his loan was terminated.

    4. Nathan Blake - December 2004

A forgettable loan spell that consisted of just two matches after joining on a temporary deal from Leicester City. But he did least score one goal during those two matches.

    5. Leandre Griffit - January 2005

Signed a month’s loan from Southampton, his time at Elland Road was short and sweet. He made just one appearance that amassed to just 25 minutes on the pitch.

    6. Paul Harrison - January 2005

Signed on loan from Liverpool as part of the deal that saw Scott Carson go in the opposite direction, Harrison’s time at Elland Road was forgettable. He did not make a single first-team appearance.

    7. Michael Gray - February 2005

A solid stint on loan from Blackburn Rovers for three-months from Gray and he proved to be quite a hit at Elland Road. His time in West Yorkshire comprised of 10 appearances. He would, of course, return for a second spell in 2007.

    8. Rob Hulse - February 2005

One of Leeds’ best loan additions in recent years. Hulse made an immediate impact at Elland Road after joining on a three-month loan deal from West Brom. Between February and May he would score six times in 13 matches. He joined on a permanent deal over the summer.

    9. Marlon King - March 2005

Drafted in on loan from Nottingham Forest and was, unfortunately, played as a winger opposed to his natural role as a striker. The following campaign, which saw King join Watford, saw him end the season as the Championship’s leading marksman, scoring 21 goals.

    10. Jonathan Douglas - August 2005

Douglas’ season-long loan move from Blackburn Rovers to Elland Road in 2005 eventually came to an end in 2009, with the midfielder joining the Whites permanently after a successful 2005/06 campaign. He was a success and became captain during his time in West Yorkshire.

    11. Liam Miller - November 2005

On loan from Manchester United for three months, Miller will always be remembered for his part in Leeds’ sensational comeback against Southampton at St Mary’s. The Whites were 3-0 down with 19 minutes to go but, remarkably, won 4-3. He only scored one goal, but what a goal to get.

    12. Danny Graham - March 2006

Three appearances and no goals. Graham’s short-term loan stint at Leeds from Middlesbrough will not be remembered fondly by anyone, especially when he went on to have such a prolific career.

    13. Geoff Horsfield - August 2006

After 14 goals in the 2005/06 season, Leeds were forced into selling Rob Hulse to Sheffield United following the Blades’ promotion to the Premier League. Horsfield, drafted in on loan from the Blades as Hulse’s replacement, was a disappointment. He scored just twice in six months.

    14. Tony Warner - August 2006

One of four goalkeepers that Leeds called upon during the relegation campaign of 2006/07, Warner, on loan from Fulham, made 13 appearances and kept three clean sheets. Far from dazzling but steady.

    15. Alan Wright - October 2006

Signed on a month’s loan from Sheffield United, Wright failed to make any sort of impact as he made just one appearance for the Whites. The less said about that move the better.

    16. Adam Johnson - October 2006

A promising youngster back in 2006, Johnson joined Leeds from Middlesbrough on a one-month loan deal. Despite getting the Man of the Match award on his debut, he failed to make any sort of impact. We don't need to remind you what would happen later in his career.

    17. Graham Stack - October 2006

One of four goalkeepers to be used during the 2006/07 campaign, Stack joined Leeds on a three-month loan stint from Reading. By the end of January 2007, his loan was extended to the end of the season. In 12 games, he conceded 21 goals.

    18. Matt Heath - November 2006

Drafted in on loan from Coventry City, Heath made a strong impact at Elland Road, making 26 Championship appearances, scoring three goals. His switch to West Yorkshire was made permanent in the summer of 2007, as the Whites got ready for life in League One.

    19. Ugo Ehiogu - November 2006

Ehiogu arrived on a short-term loan from Middlesbrough and did a solid job. He only made six appearances but looked an assured addition. It’s a shame that the Whites could not have kept him for longer.

    20. Tresor Kandol - November 2006

It isn’t very often that you see a Championship club taking a player on loan from Barnet but Leeds just did that when signing striker Kandol in November 2006. He would sign on a permanent basis in January 2007 and would stay for over three years. A solid addition at that level.

    21. Armando Sa - January 2007

Signed on loan from La Liga side Espanyol, there was plenty of hope that Armando Sa would have an impact at Elland Road. But he will go down as one of Leeds’ most disappointing loan additions in recent times. He failed to have any impact in 12 matches.

    22. Alan Thompson - January 2007

Drafted in on loan from Celtic in January 2007 until the end of the season, Thompson made a great start to life at Elland Road, scoring in each of his first two games. He would return to Leeds in the summer of 2007 following the Whites’ relegation to League One.

    23. Casper Ankergren - January 2007

Another goalkeeper signing in 2006/07, Ankergren went on to be a popular figure at Elland Road. His initial loan spell may have ended in relegation, but he went on to be a firm fans’ favourite. He played in the famous 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup in 2010.

    24. Jemal Johnson - February 2007

Like so many others, this was another disappointing loan signing that Leeds were guilty of making. Johnson arrived on loan from Wolves and made just three appearances, scoring none.

    25. Radostin Kishishev - March 2007

Another loan signing in a forgettable 2006/07 season, Kishishev actually had a positive impact, so much so that the Whites wanted to sign him on a permanent basis in the summer. But a transfer ban put pay to those hopes.

    26. Lubomir Michalik - March 2007

The latest in an ever-growing list of loan signings in the 2006/07 season, Michalik made a positive impact. But upon his return to Bolton, he was a key fixture in their plans. He did, though, eventually return to Leeds in January 2008, signing for £500,000.
    27. Jamie Clapham - August 2007

A new season and a new collection of additions were bound to arrive. Clapham spent three months at Elland Road and became the first choice left-back. He was key in Leeds’ strong start to the 2007/08 season, helping them win 12 of their first 15 games.

    28. Mark De Vries - October 2007

Drafted in on loan from Leicester City for a month. But less than a month into the loan, Leeds opted to terminate it as De Vries suffered a broken toe. But he would return to Elland Road on November 12 until mid-January.

    29. Wayne Andrews - October 2007

With a striker injury crisis developing, Leeds were in desperate need for reinforcements and they turned to Coventry City striker Andrews. But his time at Elland Road did not work out how anyone had hoped for, as he scored just one goal, albeit in just two games.

    30. Darren Kenton - January 2008

Kenton joined Leeds on loan from Leicester City for a month, only to join the club permanently on January 31, after Leicester terminated his contract. He made 12 appearances before being released at the end of the 2007/08 season.

    31. Alan Sheehan - January 2008

Another addition from Leicester in January 2008 was left-back Sheehan, who proved to be a solid signing. He made 10 appearances and scored once. He would re-sign for the Whites in July 2008, signing a three-year deal.

    32. Neil Kilkenny - January 2008

One of Leeds’ best loan additions in recent years. Kilkenny was signed on an emergency loan deal in January 2008, only for it to be made permanent three days later. The Australian would go on to make over 120 appearances in a three-year spell.

    33. Stephen O’Halloran - February 2008

It seems that there is a curse for Leeds when it comes to signing left-backs. In the warm-up for what would have been his Whites debut, he suffered an ACL injury, keeping him out for over a year.

    34. Dougie Freedman - March 2008

Freedman’s arrival from Crystal Palace in March 2008 was a fantastic addition, as he adapted to life at Elland Road like a duck to water. He scored six goals in 14 games and won the League One Player of the Month award for April. Solid signing.

    35. Lee Trundle - January 2009

Chasing promotion once more, Leeds added Trundle to their ranks in a bid to add more firepower to their strike force. His initial one-month loan was extended by another month but his time at Elland Road was to consist of just one goal.

    36. Richard Naylor - January 2009

Signed by his boyhood club initially on loan from Ipswich, Leeds made the move for Naylor permanent a few days later. He was a solid performer at League One level and famously captained the Whites to the FA Cup win over Manchester United in 2010.

    37. Carl Dickinson - January 2009

Signed on a one-month loan deal from Stoke City in January 2009, Dickinson made five appearances and did a steady job at left-back. Leeds wanted to extend the deal beyond a month but Stoke needed him back.

    38. Liam Dickinson - March 2009

The move for Dickinson from Derby County failed in the January transfer window due to a late snag with the paperwork and it set the tone for what would come when he eventually joined the Whites in March. As a striker, he failed to score in eight matches.

    39. Sam Sodje - March 2009

Despite netting an own-goal during eight appearances, Sodje’s initial one-month loan switch from Reading was extended to the end of the season. All in all, he did a solid job and struck a strong centre-half partnership with Naylor.

    40. Darryl Flahavan - March 2009

Signed on a temporary loan deal from Crystal Palace, despite the Whites already having four goalkeepers on their books, Flahavan suffered an early injury and would not play a single minute for the club.

    41. Michael Doyle - August 2009

With Leeds entering their third season in League One, they needed to add some steel to their midfield and they got exactly that in Doyle, who signed for the season on loan from Coventry City. He played 52 times and wanted to sign permanently. Leeds did not venture down that avenue.

    42. Frank Fielding - September 2009

Another goalkeeper signed on loan, another one that didn’t play a single first-team game during his month’s stay from Blackburn Rovers. But he did get an England Under-21 call-up whilst at Elland Road.

    43. Sam Vokes - October 2009

Drafted in on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Vokes did not quite have the same profile as he does nowadays. He scored just once for the club and returned to Molineux just after the turn of the year.

    44. Max Gradel - October 2009

One of the best in recent years, perhaps? Gradel made an immediate impact after arriving on loan from Leicester City, scoring on just his fourth appearance. Leeds fans wanted him to stay and they got their wish. His loan deal was extended and then signed permanently. He was a big hit.

    45. Hogan Ephraim - November 2009

Brought in from QPR for a short-term spell, Ephraim played just four times for Leeds, scoring once. Steady but not memorable.

    46. David Martin - November 2009

Yet another goalkeeper signed on loan that struggled to have any sort of impact. He played just once for Leeds during his spell from Liverpool, that being in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Accrington Stanley. He did keep a clean-sheet in a 2-0 win.

    47. Tony Capalidi - November 2009

A third player signed on November 26, Capaldi joined for just over a month, with a view to make it permanent. He played a handful of times but had little impact.

    48. Gary McSheffrey - January 2010

With Leeds in a healthy-looking position to gain promotion, McSheffrey was brought in on loan from Birmingham until the end of the season to add more quality. His time at Elland Road consisted of 11 games, scoring just once. Not quite the impact he’d have wanted.

    49. Shane Lowry - January 2010

Twelve games, four yellow cards and missed the decisive penalty in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Final against Carlisle United. Lowry’s spell at Elland Road will be remembered for the wrong reasons.

    50. Neil Collins - March 2010

Brought in from Preston North End to cover for the injured Patrick Kisnorbo, Collins settled right in at Elland Road and helped Leeds to promotion. Following that, he was signed on a permanent deal but it did not work out how people had hoped. He was sold the following January.

    51. Sanchez Watt - March 2010

An exciting, young talent drafted in from Arsenal, Watt failed to live up to the billing during his time in West Yorkshire. His six appearances consisted of no goals. But he did return to Leeds the following season for a crack at the Championship.

    52. Adam Clayton - August 2010

Signed for a month from Manchester City and the move was made permanent by the end of the month. He would go out on loan twice during his spell at Elland Road. He did eventually deliver some strong performances but was eventually sold to Huddersfield Town two years later.

    53. Jason Brown - September 2010

Signed on a one-month loan from Blackburn Rovers, Brown became the latest in a long list of goalkeepers to temporarily join the Whites and struggle for game-time. He played just four times.

    54. George McCartney - September 2010

McCartney joined Leeds from Sunderland on a three-month loan deal and he eventually ended up staying for the remainder of the 2010/11 season. He made 32 appearances and made the left-back spot his own.

    55. Ben Alnwick - October 2010

Alnwick joined Leeds on loan from Tottenham for 28 days and became the latest goalkeeper to go down in the record books to have signed for Leeds and never play a single minute.

    56. Andy O’Brien - October 2010

O’Brien signed for Leeds on loan from Bolton Wanderers and, after being let go by Leeds at the age of 14, showed what he was capable of. He did excellently during his time on loan and the Whites kept him on a permanent basis, signing him from Bolton in January 2011. He was let go 18 months later.

    57. David Gonzalez - January 2011

Signed from Manchester City on loan until the end of the campaign, the goalkeeper failed to make a single appearance. Another forgettable addition to the squad.

    58. Eric Lichaj - February 2011

Signed on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the campaign, American Lichaj did a solid job for the Whites, demonstrating his qualities. He played 16 times and has since gone on to become an established Championship player.

    59. Barry Bannan - March 2011

Drafted in from Aston Villa for the remainder of the season, Bannan made seven appearances without scoring. He has since gone on to be one of the Championship’s better midfielders at Sheffield Wednesday. A case of what might have been.

    60. Jake Livermore - March 2011

Another central midfielder drafted in to boost Leeds’ play-off hopes, Livermore, signed from Tottenham, played just five times and had little impact. He went on to play for England and establish himself in the Premier League.

    61. Darren O’Dea - August 2011

Brought in on loan for the duration of the 2011/12 season from Celtic, centre-back O’Dea did reasonably well, making 38 appearances, scoring two goals. His performances at Leeds meant he was nominated for the Young International Player of the Year at the Football Association of Ireland International Football Awards.

    62. Andy Keogh - August 2011

For a striker to score just twice in 22 games does not make great reading, but Keogh, on loan from Wolves, was a hard-worker and that earned him recognition. Leeds tried to get him on a permanent basis but that did not work out.

    63. Danny Pugh - September 2011

After being sold by the Whites in June 2006, Pugh returned on loan from Stoke City five years later. During this loan stint at Elland Road, the defender would make 17 outings for the club before rejoining on a permanent basis in January 2012.

    64. Alex McCarthy - November 2011

McCarthy’s temporary switch from Reading to Leeds was a goalkeeper signing that worked out. In six games for the club he would keep three clean sheets and save a penalty. He has since gone to be a Premier League player.

    65. Andros Townsend - January 2012

One of the biggest names that Leeds have signed on loan in recent years. Townsend arrived at Elland Road from Tottenham with a point to prove but he failed to have a major impact. He played seven games, scoring once. He’s now a proven Premier League operator.

    66. Fabian Delph - January 2012

Delph returned to where it had all began in a bid to get some first-team football after an injury lay-off. He played five games, scoring none and then suffered a fresh injury problem. It didn’t work out how anyone had hoped for.

    67. Adam Smith - January 2012

Signed on loan for a month from Tottenham and he won’t be remembered that greatly. He played four games and then returned to White Hart Lane. He’s now an established Premier League right-back for Bournemouth.

    68. Paul Robinson - March 2012

Robinson, now retired, played eight games for Leeds after being drafted in on loan from Bolton for a couple of months. The only memory Leeds fans probably have him, though it won’t be a fond one, is that he played in Leeds’ famous 7-3 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

    69. Michael Tonge - September 2012

Signed by Leeds on loan from Stoke City and was reunited with former manager Neil Warnock, who worked together at Sheffield United. Tonge’s loan spell included a superb hit against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough before signing permanently in January 2013.

    70. Ryan Hall - October 2012

Hall was signed on a temporary loan deal, surprisingly you could say, from Southend United. He signed in January 2013 before having his contract terminated 10 months later due to comments he had made on Twitter. Not quite the way people had hoped it would end.

    71. Alan Tate - November 2012

Tate was signed from Swansea City on two-month loan and made a total of 11 appearances. A solid spell for a player who turned out to be a Swansea legend.

    72. Jerome Thomas - November 2012

Thomas made seven appearances, scoring one goal, during a spell on loan from West Brom. He impressed that much that Leeds tried to make the deal a permanent one but Thomas rejected the move.

    73. Ross Barkley - January 2013

After impressing on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the campaign, Barkley joined Leeds in January. But his time at Elland Road was not quite as successful, as he made just four appearances. He has since played at the World Cup and European Championships.

    74. Habib Habbiou - January 2013

Signed from Belgian club Zulte Waregem on a six-month loan deal, the striker played just four times and ended up going on holiday before his loan deal expired.

    75. Dexter Blackstock - October 2013

Signed on loan from Nottingham Forest and he made the perfect start, scoring with his first touch in a Leeds kit. But that was as good as it got. He played just four times and ended up going back to the City Ground with an injury.

    76. Cameron Stewart - January 2014

Was signed on loan from Hull City, made his debut in the 6-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and ended up suing the club as he claimed they had not paid his wages. That just about summed his time at Elland Road up. Forgettable.

    77. Jimmy Kebe - January 2014

Kebe made nine appearances during a loan spell from Crystal Palace and failed to have a real impact. He scored one goal, that being in a 5-1 win over Huddersfield Town at Elland Road. That, in truth, was as good as it got.

    78. Jack Butland - February 2014

With Paddy Kenny injured, Leeds were in desperate need of sourcing a goalkeeper. They signed Butland on loan from Stoke City for the remainder of the 2013/14 season and he racked up 16 appearances. He, of course, went on to play for England and in the Premier League.

    79. Connor Wickham - February 2014

Wickham was signed on loan from Sunderland for a month after earlier playing for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship. His time at Elland Road, though, was not quite as prolific, as he scored no goals in five games.

    80. Souleymane Doukara - July 2014

He had only been at Elland Road for two months, following his loan switch from Catania, and the move was made permanent. Though his Whites career proved to be far from prolific, scoring 18 goals, he will always be remembered for his incredible volley against Nottingham Forest in January 2017.

    81. Zan Benedicic - August 2014

Signed on a season-long loan from giants AC Milan, Benedicic’s time at Elland Road proved to be dictated by injuries. He played just twice for the club before suffering a serious knee injury that kept him out for the campaign.

    82. Giuseppe Bellusci - August 2014

Signed on loan on August 12, Bellusci’s loan move from Catania became permanent just over a week later. His time at Leeds will be remembered most for the time he was accused of racially abusing Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome. Eventually, the Italian was found not guilty and that was an end to matters.

    83. Adryan - August 2014

Brazilian striker Adryan was signed on loan from Brazilian club Flamengo, with a view to a permanent deal. But the striker’s time in West Yorkshire failed to live up to expectations, with him failing to score in 13 games.

    84. Dario Del Fabro - August 2014

Del Fabro joined Leeds on a season-long loan from Italian side Cagliari. His time at Elland Road was forgettable. He played just once and got caught up in a controversial situation that saw six players pull out of a game against Charlton due to ‘injury.’

    85. Brian Montenegro - September 2014

Montenegro, who had experienced English football in the past with West Ham United, joined Leeds on loan from Paraguayan club Nacional Asuncion. His time at Elland Road consisted of six games and no goals. Not so memorable.

    86. Sol Bamba - January 2015

Drafted in on loan from Palermo and settled right into the groove. He was assured and solid. He made 19 appearances, scoring one goal, before the move was made permanent in June 2015. He went on to become one of the Championship’s best defenders for a period.

    87. Granddi N’Goyi - January 2015

N’Goyi’s time at Leeds will not be remembered by anyone at all. He played just one game before returning back to Italy.

    88. Edgar Cani - February 2015

Another player signed from Italy and it proved to be another flop. Cani’s time at Leeds will not be remembered by anyone. He made four appearances, failing to score a single goal.

    89. Tom Adeyemi - July 2015

Adeyemi was signed on loan from Cardiff City for the 2015/16 season and proved to be a big hit under Uwe Rosler. He was a solid midfield player and looked handy. But once Steve Evans was appointed in October, he lost his way slightly and opportunities became more and more limited.

    90. Will Buckley - October 2015

Buckley was signed a one-month loan deal from Sunderland and made four appearances, in which time he did very little to impress. Not many will look back on his time at Elland Road with great memories.

    91. Liam Bridcutt - November 2015

Bridcutt was signed on a short-term loan from Sunderland and his performances were that impressive, Leeds opted to extend the loan until the end of the 2015/16 season. He proved to be a real impact player in the engine room and went on to be Whites captain.

    92. Mustapha Carayol - January 2016

Drafted in on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the 2015/16 season, Carayol added pace and power to the team. A debut goal against Rotherham United in the FA Cup got everyone’s hopes up, only for him to struggle for the rest of his time at Elland Road, scoring just once more.

    93. Kyle Bartley - July 2016

Without doubt one of Leeds’ best loan additions in recent times. Bartley, captured from Swansea City, was nothing short of outstanding, almost helping Leeds get into the Championship play-off places. He also chipped in with six goals in 50 matches. Not too shabby a record for a centre-back.

    94. Hadi Sacko - July 2016

Signed on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon, Sacko was a regular under Garry Monk. He racked up 42 appearances and was signed on a permanent basis over the summer for the following campaign. Decent on loan but it went wrong once a permanent deal had been concluded.

    95. Matty Grimes - July 2016

Grimes joined Leeds from Swansea City and made just 12 appearances across the whole season. It did not pan out how anyone had hoped. He has since become Swansea’s captain and a decent, all-round midfielder.

    96. Pablo Hernandez - August 2016

As loan signings go, what a signing. When Monk signed former Swansea teammate Hernandez, few would have predicted it would have turned out so well. He initially signed on loan for six months, which saw him rack up 18 appearances. He has gone on to be a hero at Elland Road.

    97. Pontus Jansson - August 2016

Drafted in on loan from Torino, little did people knew just how popular Swedish defender Jansson would prove to be. He was a rock and a leader in his first season at Elland Road and it was only right that he joined the Whites on a permanent deal.

    98. Alfonso Pedraza - January 2017

Pedraza signed for Leeds on loan from Villarreal in January 2017, with a view to a permanent deal in place. But the Spainiard’s time at Elland Road did not prove to be successful, with him scoring just once in 14 outings.

    99. Modou Barrow - January 2017

Barrow was brought in on loan from Swansea with the hope that his pace and quality would bolster Leeds’ promotion aspirations. But the winger’s time at Elland Road proved to be forgettable, as he played just five times and failed to score.

    100. Matthew Pennington - July 2017

Pennington was Leeds’ 100th loan signing since dropping out of the Premier League and he proved to be a solid addition from Premier League Everton. He played 24 times and did a job when called upon.

    101. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson - August 2017

Borthwick-Jackson was brought in from Manchester United to provide competition at left-back. But his time at Elland Road was not so memorable as he played just six games, five of which were in cup matches, including the FA Cup defeat at Newport. Sent home with his tail between his legs.

    102. Pierre-Michel Lasogga - August 2017

Lasogga arrived at Elland Road from German club Hamburg and hit the ground running immediately, scoring twice on his debut. He ended his season-long loan with 10 goals to his name, ensuring he did a solid job in his one and only season in England.

    103. Oliver Sarkic - September 2017

Sarkic joined Leeds for the Under-23s side on loan from Benfica before making the move permanent in January 2018. He left Leeds this summer after making no impact at all.

    104. Lewis Baker - July 2018

Having spent time previously in the Championship, with it not going too well, Baker got another chance when Leeds brought him in on a six-month loan deal. His time at Elland Road was made up of 14 appearances, only three of which were starts.

    105. Jamal Blackman - July 2018

Blackman’s time at Leeds was cut-short due to a serious leg injury, forcing him to return to Chelsea early. Prior to the injury, he played just two games, both of which came in the Carabao Cup.

    106. Jack Harrison - July 2018

Brought in from Manchester City and he was steady. Harrison scored four goals in 42 games and proved to be a key fixture in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans. He, of course, returned for a second loan spell this summer.

    107. Izzy Brown - August 2018

Just like fellow Chelsea teammate Blackman, Brown’s time with Leeds was wrecked by a serious injury. He suffered a cruciate ligament injury problem in November and was sidelined until February. In the end, he played just two games. A great shame for a player who had arrived so highly regarded.

    108. Ben White - July 2019

What a signing White has proven to be. He may have only been at Leeds a short time but he has been outstanding. He has shown such tremendous quality for a player that had never played at Championship level. Leeds’ best loan signing since dropping out the Premier League? It has to be up there.

    109. Jack Clarke - July 2019

Clarke returned to Elland Road as part of the agreement that saw him join Tottenham over the summer, but one substitute appearance in the league was enough to convince Spurs that the loan spell needed to be terminated early, with the youngster then moving to QPR.

    110 - Helder Costa - July 2019

An exciting signing with plenty of Championship experience, but has not quite hit the heights yet. His initial loan deal with become permanent at the end of the current campaign for a fee of around £15million, meaning expectation levels will remain high

    111 - Illan Meslier - August 2019

A promising young goalkeeper with plenty of talent. Meslier, signed on loan from FC Lorient made his debut in the FA Cup defeat at Arsenal before he was flung into the limelight when Kiko Casilla's eight-match ban came through. Two appearances and two clean sheets before the coronavirus pandemic took hold was a promsing start.

    112 - Eddie Nketiah - August 2019

A promising striker brought in from Arsenal desperate to learn his trade at Championship level. Impressed in a number of cameo appearances, but got injured just as he was about to replace Patrick Bamford in the starting XI. Recalled by Arsenal early at the start of January.

He is, right now, Leeds’ joint-top scorer with five goals, despite not yet starting a Championship game. He is only going to get better and better once he gets the chance to deliver from the start.

    113 - Jean-Kevin Augustin - January 2020

The final name on our list and very much one for whom the jury is out. A lack of match fitness and a subsequent hamstring injury means we've only seen glimpses of the Frenchman in action.

Close on 100 of those loans were a waste of time
