I see the leader of an illegal football streaming racket has been jailed for 11 years: TV fraud gang jailed for illegally streaming Premier League games https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65697595 Ok, I accept he knew what he was doing was illegal and profited from a ‘crime’, but 11 years? He didn’t kill anyone, he didn’t rape or exploit anyone - he didn’t commit a sexual crime (although one of the gang did). He did t even give anyone a black eye or a bloody nose. He could end up doing more time than the killers of Baby P or Jamie Bulger. Our justice system is rigged to value money more than human life and safety.
Absolutely. Yes, what he did was wrong and he should get some sort of punishment for it. However, there's a little bit of me that thinks he should get a medal for ripping off the leaches that have corrupted the beautiful game with their money. As you say, in any case, 11 years is nonsense.
Over £7m in illegal profits that went untaxed. I'd say 11 years is about right for tax evasion alone on that amount of money. TV fraud gang jailed for illegally streaming Premier League games - BBC News
11 years does seem a lot compared to what seem much worse crimes of physical abuse etc, as a society we seem to give too much weight to crimes to property, or fraud etc compared to those of violence against people.
Clingo, this must be a first disagreeing with you. I'm fed up with folk gloating, taking the p*ss and telling me I'm mad to pay my Sky subscription. It's quute possible if people paid their subscription my payment would come down. No, I chuck the bloody key away. Sorry Clingo.
RP it's never a problem to disagree with me, I have a history of it! You're absolutely right if course and I hadn't thought of it from a subscription payer's point if view. That's probably because I'm not one out of principle...but that's a different conversation. That said, the sentence did somehow make a mockery of the system when it is compared to crimes of violence. Maybe the 11 years is right and there needs to be some "levelling up" for crimes of violence. Anyway, good to talk and I hope you and yours are keeping well.
I remember well watching football way way back in B&W. Today some it seems takes watching EFL and the best league in the world for granted. How lucky are we ? The only reason is Sky money. Pay up you entitled you bu**ers and stop feeling sorry those criminals who get caught.
I wish I was entitled I don't have Sky or any other similar subscription. That's almost exclusively because they've sucked the soul out of football. So if it's not on terrestrial TV, I don't watch it. I certainly wouldn't watch it on a rip off channel either. Match of the day is fine for me in order to get a glimpse of the elite and I subscribe to Cardiff City TV for my live pain.
