Spurs have dismissed an initial enquiry from QPR for Townsend but Harry Redknapp is set to test his former clubâs resolve with a formal bid for the winger. Redknapp believes he can convince Townsend to make the switch to west London and thinks the England international would be the perfect addition to boost QPR's survival prospects in the Premier League this season. QPR face a battle to sign Townsend, however, with new Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino a fan of the 23-year-old having told him that he is a big part of his plans for the new season. The Argentine has also been impressed with Townsendâs attitude and ability in pre-season following his return from the ankle injury that ruled him out of the World Cup. The England international wants to stay at White Hart Lane but is eager for regular playing opportunities having fallen out of favour under former manager Tim Sherwood. Townsend spent the second half of the 2012-13 season on loan at QPR before returning to Spurs and breaking into the England squad to play a vital role in the Three Lionsâ qualification for the World Cup. QPR are desperate to improve their squad following their promotion to the Premier League but Spurs are reluctant to sell the academy product. Should QPR produce an offer too good to refuse, Tottenham could step up their interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay, with sources at both clubs insisting there has been no bid so far for the Netherlands international. As Tottenham prepare for the start of the new campaign, they are continuing to work on a £17m deal for Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio and a £2m move for Seattle Sounders full-back DeAndre Yedlin. The north London club have signed left-back Ben Davies and goalkeeper Michel Vorm from Swansea and remain hopeful of signing Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin this month
Pointless. Spuds will want too much money even to consider it. Townsend would want a fortune to give up Europa League football for a relegation battle.
Spurs won't sell him Let's see how many games he plays until Christmas If he's still on the fringes, bid £6 million for him
All very exciting, but, as per another thread, surely we are in danger of destabilising the 'band of brothers'? Don't misunderstand me. I would love to see Andros in The Hoops. Absolutely the 'right sort' but we must maintain that team spirit.
This. If the new manager says he's part of his plans then he's not going to jump ship. If reality is different to paper talk then the Arry factor could help in Jan (but even then seems a long shot).
I would not have started the thread due to the source, now copied by Express & daily star which come out with false weather headlines all the time to scare people
Too expensive in my eyes, yes he looked good in a poor Rangers side but the end product isn't the best. I think we need another box to box midfielder and another striker.
Today we have Remy, Taarabt BZ, Austin and Junior as i see it ... why do we need more? Does anyone understand the formation Harold is trying to play here? it will involve one player playing in the hole we are well equipped IMO I would go for another goal scoring midfielder
Story from - Crapola Site Valuation - 4 or 5 mill too much Team situation - Players not needed in this position If we can splurge 10 mill - Get a central ball-spraying midfielder or a goal-scoring forward........or both Conclusion - Utter Tosh
Um... just to be sure, you do know that Harry has been playing 2 up front? We have only 3 fully recognised strikers. One of them is injury prone. The other may be leaving. I've read that Liverpool might not be done with Remy yet.
The story seems to be on many other sites as well now but is probably just copycat journalism. I can't for the life of me see why they would want to sell a player who must be one of the most improved in the country over the last few years.
