1000th Post Special: Not606 NUFC XI

Noticed I was coming up to my 1000th post - had wanted to save it to celebrate Cashely's departure, but that seemed to be putting the mockers on, so thought I'd do something a bit different.

I've enjoyed Not606 a huge amount over the last 6(!) years, so wanted to say a bit of a thank you. However I'm British, so I'm culturally obliged to do that by taking the piss.

Here's the game: match up a current Not606 poster with a NUFC player (past or present). Justify your choice based on the poster's/player's character. You're not allowed to choose for yourself, but feel free to correct other's choices. Obviously take the piss, but don't take it personally/be a dick.

Here's my XI (apologies to regular posters I've left out, but I had to leave some for the rest of you to have a go at).

3-4-3 Formation:

1. [GK] Mick – Given (Veteran from the Emerald Isle. Doesn’t let his relative lack of stature stop him making a contribution)

2. [CB] Fredd – Dabizas (Solid support to the rest of the forum. Adds a rare European flavour to the team)

3. [CB] Groot/Trev - Albert (Basks in past glory that very few current supporters remember seeing).

4. [CB] Jonjomort – Lascelles (Doesn’t let his own talent stop him laying into the team and the manager when he thinks it justified)

5. [MF] Chippy – Colback (Started out a Mackem, but professes loyalty to the toon just slightly too loudly to be believed. Puts in loads of effort. Quality, on the other hand....).

6. [MF] Jak – Butt (Keeps the engine room ticking well enough, but clearly left his heart in Manchester)

7. [MF] Pouchy – Joey Barton (Surprisingly sophisticated wind-up merchant, although not quite as bright as he likes to think he is)

8. [RW] Chaos – Ketsbaia (Enough said)

9. [CF] Nev – Milburn (Past great who nobody really remembers anymore)

10. [CF] Dorty – Shola (not the most graceful but everyone forgives him based on his record against the Mackems)

11. [LW] Windy – Luque (Promise gets fans excited. Ultimately disappointing)

 

Some amazingly good and accurate descriptions.

Particularly liked those for Chippy, Pouchy and Windy.
