Take a look at this site, seem to reckon they could fill half the ground. http://www.dothebouncy.com/main/threads/rangers-v-bristol-city-13th-july.55859/ http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=254246
they probably would fill half the ground given the chance, there are plenty of rangers fans in the south,
Why are you surprised, they are the true description of fanatical and will follow the team anywhere and everywhere and this will be a good opportunity for those exiled down South to see the team....
Should be an interesting atmosphere but fair play to the support they get. Wish we had those numbers of fans
Why is that figure a shock, I suspect there are at least 2000 asweaty socks living in Bristol who would want to go.plus they have a huge fan base in London town as well.
I went to a Rangers friendly about 15 years ago in Fort Lauderdale when I was living there. They played the Miami Fusion of the MLS (now sadly disbandonded). There were probably 5 to 6 thousand sweatys there and the atmosphere was terrific. Ended up drinking pre and post game with a load of them in a local English bar - all donned up in their kilts and regalia. Really good bunch of fans - absolutely fanatical about Rangers, knowledgeable about footy and big drinkers. No trouble whatsoever but Miami Fusion fans were mainly English and South American ex-pats. I think you'll find the only trouble will be klicked off by City "fans"....most Scottish fans travel extremely well. Look at their reputation when they occasionhally qualify for the World Cup. Polar opposite of some of the English morons who are hell bent on trouble. Have fun lads and enjoy the game and maybe welcome a few of the Bears intop the local pubs for a few bevvies. Think you'll find them a good bunch.
When I worked and lived in Livingston in the late 1990's, one bloke in the factory was a particularly avid Rangers fan going to every match home and away. Match day consisted of 12 pints of lager at lunchtime, followed by the match and then straight into the nearest pub for another dozen or so pints to celebrate the win. Every evening he was down the pub for a DAILY DOZEN PINTS. He was as thin as a rake, stank all the time of booze and also used to wallop his poor missus frequently. God knows how the family survived as he spent every penny he had on Rangers and lager.
Lets hope not but if they bring that many they will be in home ends, and that will not go down too well. This game looks like it will be a sellout.
Heard they took 8k to southampton a while back i think that was the official number i expect this game to be a sell out
You can expect all of the local pubs in North, West and East Streets to close. If this isn't asking for trouble then I don't know what is
We are ging to have to practice our singing a LOT or it will be embarrassing and we will be drowned out..
We need to sing as one, this will be some atmosphere, when do the tickets go on sale?? Bristol will be full of scots, fair play to the club getting a big pre season game. Im sure it has to be somthing to do with foster going to Rangers.
Well everyone was moaning about not having a proper pre season friendly and whilst they may be on their uppers at the moment, they are a proper BIG club...
