You bet your ****ing arse they don't! Game was a tough one and Chelsea were unlucky not to score more. But then again, so were United!
they still seemed to boss about CM today, wish we had an enforcer like keano around to get the ball back
I think we will see a lot more matches like that for United. Very entertaining for the neutrals but we will give the opposition far too many chances. I don't think it will be a case of "we'll just score one more than you" because we have a good defence and keepers. More over, we aren't going to come up against Torres that played as well as his Liverpool first season days when he probably was up there as the best striker in the world. So I don't mean 4-3 thrillers, but conceding more (maybe not a lot more) than VDS days. Nothing to do with De Gea or a relatively inexperienced defence, but the fact we are playing 4-4-2 more often and we don't have a defensive But our midfield, while offers plenty in attack does give a lot of space. Spurs, Arsenal and of course Chelsea today had chances and while we could have scored 10 (again), we could have conceded 10. And do you know what? At times I think we have seen City's best play- but I'm sure they'll reproduce it again and again this season. This is probably Chelsea's performance in the league in terms of attacking play? I think we have 2 or maybe even 3 more gears to go up. I think we have seen about 75% of our top quality.
Tbh it wasn't all that tough a test. Chelsea pretty much gave us our first goal on a plate and we cut through their midfield like a knife through butter at times. They gave our defence a tougher test than any team thus far, but no one has yet defended really well against us and made it difficult for our attackers to play.
There will always be tough games in a premier league season. Always. Chelsea being one of the toughest. If United can still pull out the results, then who's complaining? We're not going to dominate every game, and I don't think our midfield/defence has been average. Far from it. Although, I do agree United didn't play as well as they can today. Teams have off days, though.
Their performance against Tottenham for example, it was City at their best. They are very good at their best, probably better than 18 of the clubs in this league. And I can't really comment too much about Chelsea (haven't really seen them play this season hence the question mark) but I assume that this has been their best attacking performance of the season so far? (forgetting about their defence)
Every real united fan knew this would be one of the toughest games of the season.....and it was, we won 3-1, i cant see anyone coming close to us this year. I dont know what people watched it on or where, but from where I was sitting, our movement was out of this world
Our movement going forward has improved on last season (the flair is back) but I feel we really need to work on pressing the opposition when we don't have the ball. I know we can sit back and absorb the pressure but it would be better if we can do it in a manner to have territory advantage (i.e. see how Real Madrid were pressing Barcelona in their own half.) Regarding an enforcer, hate to say it but imagine a Lucas or De Jong in our midfield? P.S. I haven't seen much of Paul Pogba or Ryan Tunnicliffe but how good are they at the enforcer bit? I hear Pogba is great going forward but I haven't heard about his defensive skills. A mate told me Tunnicliffe is a hard worker but could turn out good in the Fletcher mould.
Anyone who says we haven't been tested yet this season is obviously just dumb. Kpr dumb. Since the start of the season we've played: N- Manchester City - Won 3-2 A- West Brom - 2-1 H- Spurs - 3-0 H- Arsenal - 8-2 A- Bolton - 5-0 A- Benfica - 1-1 H- Chelsea - 3-1 Hardly an easy set of games is it? We've passed all of our tests, pretty much all there is to it.
