Great game and call it childhood naivety i actually believed that we would win the world cup in Japan. The best England performance i've seen in my memory, which in 15 years says an awful lot about our national team!
Does the England 4-1 Holland one from 1996 qualify within the 15 years? That, for me, was even better than the 1-5 against Germany.
That 4-1 was sensational as Holland had a real aura of supremacy at the time, SAS tore them to shreads!

I know it was only decided on a penalty, but i got a great buzz from beating Argentina in the WC 2002 a year later. Great performance off the back of this one, just not as emphatic. Scotland at Wembley in Euro 96 was sweet as well.

our own nicky barmby had a stiormer that game as well. great game and result but it did wake up the germans no end. look at how they recovered after that game.
