2 – Steven Gerrard deserves to be a title-winning captain. He’s one of the finest players this country has ever produced: he’s got character, strength to go with his ability and quality. He’s a winner – he showed that in 2005. But he’s not had enough players around him to secure the Premier League title he so richly deserves.

  3. In no way does this this mean I don't want us to win it...

...but if we do win it, will Luis have any reason to stay?

It would say quite a lot about Arsenal and Wenger if Liverpool could overtake them and win the league in the space of a season and a half...

I think the article demonstrates a rather tenuous grasp on the nature of football fandom.

He wouldn't have won the CL with us - when both are done, he may leave :D

More reason than if we don't, I'd say.

  11. He would have already achieved winning the best available trophy in this country though so he could want a new challenge.

He could win that with Barca or Real.

I think Luis will stay at Liverpool unless one of those two Spanish clubs cough up what we want for him. Winning the league will be the biggest high to leave on.

Why would he quit a winning side?
I'd say he'd have every reason to stay and go on to try and win more. We're more likely to lose him if he thinks he's chasing shadows and we'll never actually win anything.

  14. For a new chellenge and to play for a club he's dreamed of playing for; aka C.Ronaldo left Man Utd as a Premier League winner

I'm curious how Rodgers tactics will fare in Europe against European clubs.
