There's a lot of negativity around this morning and probably for good reason but who would deny that December looks like it could be a different story with home games against West Brom, Swansea and Leicester and a possible 3 points at Sunderland who never play that well against us. Anything from Everton and Chelsea would be a bonus but I can see 10 points here before the New Year. Things will look alot better when we've got 21/22 points from 19 games. Lets not start today as we finished yesterday on here, we could be 4 points better off by next Saturday night.
Sorry Anal crab, but we've had a poll on here, and we want Bruce to stay. 109 to 11 That's a pretty convincing straw poll i think...
I agree, Kempton but we know how fickle people on here are and how quickly that could swing the other way. If we fall to 19th or 20th in a few games time I can see a few more turning. I can understand Bruce getting his tactics wrong, I can't understand why we are so sloppy in possession? We must have the worst record in the league for giving away possession and a lot of it is unforced.
Yes. The use of the word "could" suggested pessimism without "6 points" following it. It's a funny old game and you never know when you're going to win back-to-back (although granted it doesn't happen for us very often at this level).
Yep, our possession was woeful yesterday. So much so,i couldn't help thinking we were giving it away on purpose, of course we weren't, but it really did look that way. Maybe some intense possession training ? I don't know...
Like the Americans shouting "Defense!" (Sic) when the opposition has possession, perhaps we should start chanting "the power of Christ compels you!"
Can't tell if your scoffing at the suggestion,or just pulling my plonker, but in his autobiography "Managing my life" (a good read), Alex Ferguson describes how he began using simple possession training techniques, when managing East Sterlingshire, to great effect. He used the same methods all the way through his time at Man utd. This included that old thing of everyone stands in a circle, two in the middle, and the lads have to pass the ball around, while the two in the middle had the task of intercepting those passes, over and over. It's not modern football science, but what was good for Ferguson.... Then again Bruce would know this. Maybe he's forgotten ?
I like the sound of "Possession Training". Think what an advantage we'd have if all our players heads could do a full 360 degree turn.
the reason we keep giving the ball away is because we are playing so deep that there is no-one moving forward to pass it to - the deeper we play the opposition push us back so we end up passing sideways, back to the keeper or hopeful hoofs forward - Brucie needs to get a grip and start pushing forward otherwise we're gonna see this **** all season
