The Scotland international is one of the most sought after talents outside the Premier League but Rovers’ hefty price tag is putting teams off. Boro however are happy to fork out the cash as they feel the addition of Rhodes would aid a Premier League push after losing in the play-off final to Norwich last month. Boss Aitor Karanka is resigned to seeing loanee Patrick Bamford either stay at Chelsea or join a Premier League club on loan next season, so wants Rhodes to fill those boots. West Ham have been long term admirers of Rhodes and despite not having a manger, chief David Sullivan is running the transfer side of the club at present. The Hammers need strikers as returning from injury Diafra Sakho appears to be their only first choice forward available at present, with injuries and international duty taking its toll on the squad. QPR are also eyeing up Rhodes to boost their promotion push but will wait on Charlie Austin’s departure before making any enquiries for the striker who notched more than 20 goals in a season for the sixth successive year last term. Crystal Palace, Everton, Newcastle and Hull are all monitoring the situation too but the £10million price-tag is putting some teams off. how long is left on his contract how old is he
He would most certainly score more than 20 for us next season. If/when Charlie goes we would be foolish to not use the money wisely.
I thought he didn't sign for us the last time he became available as he didn't want to play in London. I may have him confused with someone else though. It does seem that it's Boro & Derby who are looking to splash the largest amount of cash this season. Everyone we're being supposedly linked to they are as well. Along with many others that we're not linked to. I wonder how long it will take for their team name's to become pre-fixed with 'Big Spending?'
I'd rather we tried for Gestede. But a "20 goals in a season for the sixth successive year"-striker is pretty hard to look past. Rhodes would most likely do the biz.
We've tried for him before & reckon he just doesn't want to leave Blackburn, no ambition & that's about his level.
Depends on how he is played within the team and if he gets the service. For instance, I believe that Fer would have been a much greater asset for us last season if he hadn't spent so much of his time out on the wing.
This doesn't sound like a great reinvestment of what we get for Austin - a few million back for a lesser player IMO but an extra few years of contract. Good player but 10 million for a Championship player that's somewhat strangely never made the step up seems too much.
Have to agree with this & would prefer to spend the money we get in for Austin when he goes to be be used to finance 2-3 additions.
When you lose your star player you need a direct replacement. When Liverpool sold Suarez, it didn't work spreading out the money on all tons of players they should of signed Cavani. Same with spurs and Bale. Reinvest the Austin money on proven goalscorer Rhodes would be prefect
He's on mega wages at Blackburn already and £10m is just too much for us right now. Gestede would probably be £4m and half the wage but I'd really like us to sign Gray.
Google Jordan Rhodes wage or something similar and you'll see plenty about it. There's a reason he's still at Blackburn.
I'd like to think we won't spend £10 million on any one player, we should be aiming to get 2 or 3 for that. That aside, I don't think he's worth that kind of money.
Why would come to us when PL teams want him? One of the reasons he hasn't gone to a higher level is his lack of work rate...
