The most memorable achievement of Hooton's stint in charge has to be that impressive 10 game streak beating Arsenal and Man u along the way. Clearly the run we are on now can not be compared to that of a Premier league season but impressive none the less. I believe we can get at least 15 games without loss the way we are playing and smash a number of other records along the way. The level of expectancy at Carrow Road is so high now that some fans expect to just win every game ,that is credit to Mr Adams for restoring faith in our team but we need to be realistic . Wes has off games and Grabban fluffs shots because they are not as good as the players some posters are used to seeing on Sky Sports every week, if they were the £3m we paid for Grabban would be nearer £12m in other words you get what you pay for. The £1.5m for Jerome is looking like the sale of the century so far but he couldn't cut it in the Premier league. Everyone rates Hooper as our best striker but he is yet to do anything of note for us other than that wondergoal against Swansea, for me the players that perform will be selected on merit and Adams knows what he is doing. This may sound odd as i have been calling for Martin to play rb but the last 2 games have been an uphill struggle because of the new pairing of Turner and Hooiveld ,unless they click soon we need to try other options including Martin as we seemed more solid and less static with him at cb. A few minor tweaks is all we need and i fully trust Adams to continue making them. OTBC.
Gary Hooper in this league will be our best striker, and the sooner he's along side Jerome the better. As for our unbeaten run, I'm not really sure how long it will go. Either our luck will run out with managing to come from behind or we are more convincing in our games to actually win comfortable. At the moment, were managing to get back into games but soon would like to see that not be the case and not have to be chasing games every single time. I'm just glad we can have this discussion now and not about when will we actually win or score a goal again lol
Totally agree with this, as I mentioned on a thread yesterday. SN23 - that's a bit of a ridiculous comment re Grabban. He fluffs shots because he's not a clinical striker. It's got nothing to do with sitting around watching Sky Sports. I just don't rate him as a first team starter. That's based on seeing some of his games for Bournemouth and all but one game this season. Great squad player and very happy we've got him, but Hooper is the better finisher and a hell of a lot better at linking up play.
I agree that Hooper is the best striker we have but that is based on his Celtic heroics. He didn't play enough games last season due to injury and odd management. I hope Hooper hits the ground running like the other 2 have as both Grabban and Jerome have made great starts to their careers with us. The misery of watching hours of football without scoring is well and truly over and long may it continue.
The point i made was you get what you pay for and clinical strikers are very sought after and expensive. Grabban is a 22 goal striker but he was £3m ,nearly a third of what we paid for RVW. I doubt he would score many in the Prem either but he is still our top scorer and he has contributed to our early form.
Now that we certainly can agree on. I've watched / played a lot of football over the years and although I'll readily admit that Hooper didn't set the Premier League alight last season he showed enough for me to prove that he'll score goals at this level. If we keep going as we are we'll have equaled last season's goal tally after 13 games. I know it's the Championship, but still. Myself and the people I sit with celebrate every goal twice as vehemently as we used to. You just don't know when we'll go on another barren run!
Also based on when he played in the Championship before, once he's fit I can see him scoring a lot. (Well I hope anyway)
To be honest when RVW left for france I thought Hooper would be the only striker capable of scoring regularly, Jerome and Grabban have done exceptionally well so far. If we have 3 strikers all banging goals in then we will be in for a fantastic season.
Well said. I read something yesterday about us having 27 shots or something with four on target, we need to be more clinical and Hooper will bring that to this team. It's brilliant Jerome is scoring at the moment as Grabban's having a little drought at the moment. One of the things we do need to continue this run is strengthen up the defence and score more goals throughout the team Tettey and Johnson have chipped in with goal so far but we need the midfielders to chip in with 5-10 goals.
