It seems only yesterday that someone posted their predictions for the last 10 games for the hoops, Blackburn, Bolton, Wolves and Villa. The consensus was that it would be us, Wolves and most definitely Wigan going down. The team definitely not going down given their run in was Bolton, I can see them getting 21pts from those 10 games, etc, etc. Well, the table doesn't lie, we did it!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I feel for Bolton, as when we were losing 1 0 and Bolton were winning at Stoke, it was us heading for the Championship. But over the course of the season we've done enough to stay up, let's build on this, onwards and upwards, you Rssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
Most of us thought blackburn were safe when they were 6 points clear but they went down with ease. Both us and Wigan really had to hit form to do it and its unusual for a 1st time struggler to pull away when needed so well done lads.
I knew we would do it. I never ever stopped believing. I know that it's a cliche but, we were too good to go down. I feel sorry for Bolton though, they have genuine fans. I hope they return next season.
My only prediction was that if Wigan/QPR/Bolton all reached 40 points, Villa would go down as I could see no way they could reach 40 points. Villa were very, very lucky to stay up this year.
A lot was made of our run in and how bolton had the easy passage. How wrong the pundits were. I think wigan actually had a tougher run so good on them. Man utd effectively let them back in with that dreadful display at wigan so I for one am ecstatic those geriatrics didn't win the title.
It was the other way round for me, it wasnt that I didnt believe in the team, it was everything that went against us, losing Faurlin, the refs, Boltons 2 lucky goals against Stoke, the red cards, playing Kenny, the turmoil etc
Justice was finally done for Clint Hill's ghost goal at the Reebok. And there is some kind of delicious irony that it was Bolton that humilated us 4-0 on the opening day. But yes, it must be devestating for the trotters who must have thought they were safe as they entered stoppage time a week ago. They may struggle to recover from what I read.
I didn't think Blackburn would go down, I thought they had the players to pull themselves out of the Mire. At the beginning of the season I thought the 3 W's would go down guess thats why i'm not a punter!!!!
The best irony is that they were singing that we were going down on the opening day. I predict a QPR/Saints/Sheff Weds type implosion for them.
When I saw the highlights from the Stoke-Bolton match, it made me realise how fortunate we were. The first Walters goal was a foul on the keeper. I doubt many refs would have given that one. The Crouch penalty could have gone either way. Crouchy seemed to leave his leg behind. The Gods were on our side yesterday, and with that bit of luck, our club could well go on to become a solid Premiership outfit, mid-table and above. Sparky's transfer dealings are going to be fascinating. That plus the European cup and the Olympics - we have plenty to occupy us before the start of next season. PS I'll go for West Ham to win the play-off final. A nice away match.
So true re the first Stoke goal. That was a foul in any other game in any other league oin the world! That single incident wiped out all the 'bad luck' we've had over the last season.
You Rssssssssss, we did it RTID!!!!!!!!!! Will be wearing my QPR top when I next see our mutual friend, have a great stress free summer, lol!
