Well one or two Id like, but the wages will be barmy, still Im only a fan not a manager thank ****, what do I know? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://hereisthecity.com/2012/05/23/10-free-agent-bargains-for-clubs-to-pick-up-this-summer/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wigan Athletic, Chelsea, Sunderland, Manchester United, West Brom, Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa and Newcastle United players feature on our list. Dozens of players will be released from Premier League clubs this summer when their contracts expire. Many have allowed the situation to happen through choice, others find that their club simply decide they cannot afford to carry on keeping them on their books. The time often brings a bit of a merry-go-round, and a new opportunity for players, who will be keen to find a new club sooner rather than later. Not included on our list is the mercurial Didier Drogba, who is such a standout choice it goes without saying. He also appears to be China-bound, unless a change of heart occurs. Here are 10 others released by their clubs after several seasons in the Premier League who are attracting interest, or are about to... and no, Emile Heskey is not on the list. 1) Hugo Rodallega A year ago Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega was the subject of a speculated £10 million move to Arsenal. This summer he can be picked up for free, but after a disappointing season where he scored just two goals, interest from the top clubs has fallen away. Even so at 26 his best years should still be ahead of him, and he will be a bargain for any club who can get him firing. 2) Salomon Kalou A starter in the Champions League final, and now the master of his own destiny, Salomon Kalou has a big decision to make. He had held off on a new contract after failing to become a Chelsea regular, so it is ironic he can now leave just when he had cemented a position in the side under Roberto di Matteo. He has been linked with both Tottenham and Arsenal, and will attract interest from many clubs around Europe. 3) Craig Gordon Once signed for £9 million, a record for a British goalkeeper, Craig Gordon now finds himself released by Sunderland. The Scottish stopper had terrible luck with injuries, and had fallen to third choice, but even though he was no fit, the Black Cats decided not to carry on paying his wages. He will look for regular first team football, and if he can stay fit he will be a huge asset to whoever he signs with. Only 32, he is convinced he still has a lot to offer, even if his injury record is shaky at best. Stoke City have already expressed an interest, while Southampton and Reading have been linked, but we wouldn't be surprised to see bargain hunter Harry Redknapp sign him up. 5) Nicky Shorey Twice capped by England, left-back Nicky Shorey is to be released by West Brom this summer. Age 31, he made 22 starts for the Baggies this season and will feel he has much to offer. He will no doubt be linked with a return to former club Reading, and we wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. 6) Junior Hoilett Junior Hoilett has been in demand for quite a while, almost leaving Blackburn Rovers in January. Tottenham and Arsenal have been heavily linked, while German giant Bayern Munich were also linked a month back. The Canadian winger is only 21 and has huge potential, scoring seven times and providing five assists for Rovers last season, and it is no wonder the big clubs are interested. 7) Mohamed Diame Diame is another who will depart Wigan, and he too has been linked with the big clubs, including Liverpool. The latest Diame-related link involved him being targeted by Spanish big-spenders Malaga, and he will be a big loss for the Latics. He is just 24, and this move will be a big next step for his career. 8) Carlos Cuellar Aston Villa fans were gutted to learn Spaniard Carlos Cuellar intended to leave the club this summer, but after last season, even the greatest optimist would have sympathised with him. There has been talk of him being re-united with Martin O'Neill at Sunderland, as well as a return to Spain, and whoever picks up the 30-year-old will snap up a bargain of a defender, capable of playing anywhere across the back four. 9) Danny Guthrie 25-year-old Danny Guthrie was only really a bit-part player at Newcastle last season, making 13 starts, and as the side look to upgrade for their Europa League adventure, his opportunities would only have been more limited. He is more than capable of performing in the Premier League, and both Fulham and Aston Villa have already been linked with his signature. 10) Heurelho Gomes Brazilian goalkeeper Gomes essentially had a wasted season last year, with Brad Friedel bought to replace him. It was all about allowing his contract to wind down with a view to this summer. While he is prone to the odd high-profile error, he remains an international standard goalkeeper capable of pulling off top class saves. Signed for £8 million in 2008, he is reported to be keen on a return to Dutch club PSV.
Hoilett and Diame are the only ones I would look at if I were you (or us!) The rest are not top 8 players, too expensive on wages or already released by us!
Heurelho Gomes, very, very, very unlikely that he will move to PSV. Isaksson(Swedish national team goalie) will leave the club in July. But they bought Przsemlyslav Tyton(i'm not even trying to spell his first name right anymore) last season for 5 million. Second, they have Jeroen Zoet from their own youth system. Who is now the best Dutch prospect on goal in the category 18-21y old. Remember his name, it's very likely you'll get to hear it much more often in the future. So PSV got the goal position covered. but the biggest problem is money, they spend 20 million quid on new players, and only reached third place in the end. This year the bag of money is empty, they've got almost nothing to spend. Getting Gomes for free is one thing, his wage is out of their league. That's all the info i got for your list.
