gotta love it on here, it must be the only place on the planet someone as un pc as me can get called a snowflake
Or maybe those British army football team changing rooms were more fun than you might imagine, if that’s what they were wearing
Just been reading some stupid Green Party comments such as “We’ve been remain from the start and will be remain until we win Those comments prove they are not a Democratic Party Idiots
I suppose it depends how you define democracy. A democracy is a political system with institutions that allows citizens to express their political preferences, has constraints on the power of the executive, and provides a guarantee of civil liberties including freedom of speech. In an autocracy, political preferences cannot be expressed and citizens are not guaranteed civil liberties. In autocracies alternate views are often not allowed. Communism and dictatorship are similar in many ways to autocracies. The other thing to remember about a democracy is that evolves and changes as a result of those civil liberties and freedoms of expression that it upholds.
It was you who said it wasn't democratic to have an alternate view and express it. I think that stance is not correct if you believe in democracy.
Suggest you read my original post again To me it reads no matter what the will of the people is we will still persist to call for remain no matter what In other words we will never give in who do they think they are just a bunch of crackpots in my view
That's exactly what happens in a democracy. You get the chance to vote for them or not. It doesn't mean they are right or wrong just that they have a different opinion. If you took a snap shot of the "will of the people" now would it say the same as it was 40 years ago, 3 years ago or even 1 year ago?
Let’s say there was a hung parliament, and then a second referendum, let’s say remain win that by say 53-47. Lots of ifs. The people voted to remain. You could argue it was undemocratic to have a second referendum when the result of the first one wasn’t enacted. But the people now 3 1/2 years on have changed their minds, what would be democratic then? Best out of 3? Toss a coin? Penalty shoot out (best not, the Germans would win). Bearing in mind we would have a hung parliament... could the leavers in Parliament stop us ‘remaining’? what would people think was ‘democratic’ in those circumstances.
If there was a second referendum, even though the first has yet to be enacted, I would accept the result. I say that as long as leave was one option and remain the other. I would accept Boris' deal as the leave option. I'm a democrat.
Did anyone watch the Boris v Corbyn debate on ITV? Boris has nothing to gain and everything to lose in these debates and I felt he didn’t fair too well in the first one. wouldn’t change my mind but if there are a few undecided they might have edged away from Boris. It’s obvious Corbyn is going to attempt to attract first time voters.
