Well Louis Saha has signed on a 1 year contract and its a good deal from the club, if we get 5-6 goals out of him then he will of proved to be a great signing by MoN and I'm sure the lad is determined to prove he is worth another deal next summer and prove he isn't to old at the age of 34. Hopefully this signing can kick start a number of new arrivals and I have a feeling there could be one or two more in before the arsenal game, talk us that in the next couple of days we are going to put a final bid in for Wolves striker Fletcher as well as firming up our interest in Blackburn left back Martin Olsson. I am positive 5 or 6 more will arrive and 1 or 2 will go If no more arrive before Arsenal I would go with... ------------------ Mignolet ------------------ Gardner ----- O'Shea --- Cuellar --- Richardson ------ Cattermole ---------- Colback --------- Larsson --------- Sessegnon -------- McClean ------------------- Saha -------------------- subs Kilgallon Bramble Westwood Meyler Elmohamady Wickham Campbell Ji has been given time off till the end of the month after the olympics but looking at that match day squad we certainly need 5 or 6 new faces, bench is weak as piss
What about a cheecky £20 m bid for carroll, he is superb at crosses, so get Downing/Seb in on the right and Mcclean on the left to supply crosses, put Sess behind Saha and Carroll/Fletcher etc and we would have a great attacking team.
back in training but won't be available for sat, same with Brown as well I think, there a couple of weeks away n Bardo is a good few weeks
Decent looking first team but as you said, unimpressive bench. However, I would expect Saha to come one for the last 25 minutes or so meaning Frazier leading the attack (or Sess) if we go 4-5-1
Poolie I would like to think now we have got Saha we can forget about Fletcher. I always reckoned we needed 2 strikers, one a journeyman decent but not great, Saha for me now fits that bill, I would only expect him to play say 60 mins and then one of the young ones would be brought on, that is if we do not manage to get another striker. When MoN said he wanted quality I thought ok Fletcher £10m, plus a second 'marquee' signing for £20m. I reckon our 2nd journeyman striker has priced himself out of our plans and I would now we are going to bring in a much better forward to push us on!
I would still be very surprised if Fletcher isn't wearing a Sunderland shirt in the next couple of weeks
agreed Fletcher, Saha, Guidetti (loan) and Ji as our strike force and I would be really happy send Wickham on loan, maybe part of the Fletcher deal now Saha is in and I can see us doing a straight swap with Blackburn for Olsson involving Campbell. Would be a good deal all round, we get a quality LB and we get someone off the wage bill who is entering the last year of there contract and I very much doubt will be offered a new one.
Out of interest Sunderpitt, which 'marquee' signing for £20m do you think we should be signing? I cant personally think of one in that bracket that we could either attract, or afford the wages for but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts? I'm prepared to be informed.
. Andy Carroll? We wouldn't pay the wages though. Adam Johnson? Not a striker but marquee signing was the discussion point. In short I think that finding a 20m player who would fit into our wage structure would be a tad tricky
have to agree, I am surprised we are bidding 12-13m for a player let alone 20!!! we need another 5 or 6 players maybe Short is prepared to splash the money on transfer fee's providing the deadwood is off the wage bill but only time will tell. Sky are saying Olsson could be the next through the door for 3m now that would be great value for money especially with the value of players nowadays.
