1/4 of the season has gone and we are only 5 points off the automatic promotion spots - that was my minimum expectation and we have achieved it. We lost today but didn't lose as badly as the score suggests - until they got their breakaway second goal, Brum were basically playing out the game with 40 min remaining at home against 10 men. No need for doom and gloom - not that it will stop the posts, all us football fans are a fickle bunch!
Come on now, can I hear some actual positives about our performance, apart from dominating possession in the second half and doing nothing with it? Forget the league table for a second and just look at how we played, please.
No - the league is the most important thing and we are doing well in that. If we played absolute sh*t and won I wouldn't care as the points are all that matters - no individual game will matter if we get promoted. Rather we played like Man Utd last year and ground out wins for the title rather then Arsenal and lost it beautifully. As for positives of the game - Brum were scared sh*tless of us even though they were at home and we were down to 10 as I wrote and Schmeichal was immense and deserved a better scoreline.
well having paid my 30 quid to go to brum, i have to say bigfox, that on that form, promotion looks along way away to me. there was no bite, no width, no ability to break a team down, and no decent crosses, even when we did get by the full backs, which was very rare. we possessed absolutely no goal threat whatsoever, in fact we could still have been playing now and not trouble brum. on the day we were poor, very poor in fact, tho if their def had got a 2nd yellow, which in my opinion was warranted, then it may have been a dif outcome, but to be honest i really dont think we deserved anything at all yesterday............
very frustrated yesterday, back to slow distribution where was the speed and fluentcy? as in previous game, mills would be missing wed even if he had only got a yellow. danns looks heavy to me and midfield was powder puff. i was one of those who said stick with the same side . wot do i know!!! having said that we didnt deserve to lose but worringly didnt deserve to win against a very ordinary birmingham team. 2 home wins required now or the knifes will be out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ll ow an.0y..wa0y-
0-0 would have been fair, we had a lot more possesion than them, it was only the ref decisons that changed the game.
Didn't say we deserved a win nor did I say that we were any good in the game (did the Brum keeper have to make a proper save?) but all I am saying is that we can shrug our shoulders and carry on as it hasn't been that bad. Before the game we were unbeaten in 7 and had a clean sheet in 4 in the league - that is excellent form. Or was as the case now is - we can do it again and we are 2 points of the play offs and 5 off the autos with 3/4 of the season to go so anything can happen. Keep the faith!
